Dad used to sell hot dogs outside the pub he worked at, one day he went through his bedroom stash because he wanted to buy a tinnie boat. He did some counting, that's how they paid most of the family home :)
Food carts aren't super common in my area of Australia, it kinda sucks, I'd like options for takeaway that's not just the usual chains

Uh,,,, yeah so about those tacos. I actually live in Mexico as a US gringo, and can tell you that other than the abuela making the best birria tacos down the dirt road from me, Los Angeles holds the crown for best street tacos outside of MX. I'm in NYC every couple months and eat all the street food, and tacos definitely go to LA. Hot Dogs and Falafel definitely NYC.

My dad sold potatoes in 25 lbs on the streets of Brooklyn. He'd drive his truck 2 hours each way to farmer's market on Montauk Pt., Long Island to pick up a load. And we'd load into 25 pb bags.
During winter weather transit he kept a open barrel of burning coals in truck.
Well of course, the worst happened, barrel fell over and truck burned to shell along the highway one trip.
Dad, trying to look on thr bright side,, told me that was the best smelling fire he's ever been around.

This driving the length of Long Island from where it starts in Brooklyn, most western point, to the most easrtern tip of the island...Montauk point. Light house territory. But alot of potatoe farmers out there.

Well, I grew up in Brooklyn for 26 years then moved to Plainview and frequented the Jersey shore in the summer. I will attest, there are few less informed than you. Though you’d fit in tom’s river perfectly.

You truly are dim. Because even though you grew up in that area. Many people did not. Which is why I used the word “infamous”. As in the bridge that everyone has heard of has an INFAMOUS reputation for people breaking down on it. Or do you need that but spelled out for you too. Go read a book, preferably a dictionary.

If Mamdani wants to make real change happens, that's the FIRST thing he needs to do is try to get a handle on the rot in city government. It's gonna be an uphill battle though, and he's already unpopular with the ruling class. He's gonna ruffle feathers, and then he's gonna get a visit, and some very large men are going to sit him down and have a "chat" about his policies, and his family's safety.
