TIL Marie Callender and Calendar are spelled differently.

Any relation to Barbara Weiss of CBS fame?

Excellent collection. Thanks Marie Callendar.

Supposedly she had it set to celsius instead of fahrenheit but that’s not feasible since you can’t set an oven that high. She obviously had it on broil.

The pie lives on to this day.

It's so amusing how everyone has come together to roast this person's lack of basic cooking skills.

It's still second to the amount of roasting she gave the pie itself.

🙃

Not shown for obvious reasons: Her realizing that she was the one who made the mistake and apologizing for it later.

Just get a chocolate satin pie... they're awesome and don't require baking.

9 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

So just an hour in the oven at max? Got it

Auto Kiln or get out, fucking casual

Some people like pumpkin

But some people can't bake

Nobody is forcing them to.

Every year I see new ones I haven't seen before. I wonder how Sharon feels about all the memes

Christ man, her oven was set to the wrong temp scale and she was probably really upset because it was thanksgiving and dessert was ruined. If she'd doubled down or something maybe she should deserve a little ridicule, but "massive fuckup"? "deserves the mockery"? for someone you've never met because they, in a moment of frustration, posted at a company? Maybe cool your jets a little. It's a pie.

Her daughter let her know she went viral after posting and took it down. Sharon also burned everything else that day. Turns out, the oven was set to Celsius rather than Fahrenheit. She apologized to Marie Calendas and did a little commercial stating to make sure your oven is set to Fahrenheit, not ‘Sharonheit.’

Oh my god, it got better!

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ahahahaha. Good for her.

She had it at 375 Celsius?? It's amazing the pie did not become a pile of coals.

9 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Thats very hot for a home oven. A little over 700 F. Most home ovens don't go higher than 450-500 unless designed for pizza or something

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

How exactly does one "set" an oven to one temperature measurement versus the other? I've never seen that before.

9 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Not uncommon here on the US/Canadian border where they want to sell the same models to both countries and where old family recipes in Canada are in F. It also saves you doing your own conversion math.

Marie Calendar’s hacked her oven

Press and hold a button presumably

Ok these are hilarious, but I'm assuming she followed the instructions on the box and that's why it's the company's fault, right?

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Followed the instructions, except that she set her oven to Celsius instead of Fahrenheit.

9 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

And specifically, oven had a digital switch and didn't show which it was on.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She made a mistake and never took responsibility. This was before modern fascism so it was hilariously unexpected and therefore funny.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

What? She posted to the company, once. Then the memes started. She took down the post when things came flooding in. We even know why the pie burned; she followed the directions, but her oven was mistakenly set to Celsius, meaning she has taken responsibility Later, Marie Callender did an ad with her in it, explicitly referencing the mistake.

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yes, I am aware of the excuse given. The funny part is the mix of arrogance and ignorance, like someone hurting themselves by kicking a trash can.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

"Excuse"? Explanation. It's what happened, and she had no way of knowing at the time. It's nothing like kicking a trashcan. Clearly she was frustrated in the moment, but things were quickly smoothed over. Chill?

So i read somewhere it was revealed her oven was actually broken and despite setting it to like 350°f it was actually something like 600°f or some insanely high temperature

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Wasn't broken, was set to the wrong temp scale (Celsius instead of Fahrenheit)

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Communism is a form of broken/s
