My first little dabble at plein air. This was just a little get my feet wet session in my backyard, but it was so enjoyable and freeing. I can’t wait to scout out some more interesting locations. 5x7” oil on linen.

Looks fantastic! The only painting that I’ve ever done that I liked (haven’t done many, just an elective in college) was plein air - it was breezy and kind of dusty, and gave the whole this a fascinating texture that both helped and hindered my moving the paint.

Scouting, planning for the changing light, all the logistics, is the most troublesome part. Sometimes you find out after hours of painting that you should have been 20 feet to the left. But as you say it's really fun.

lol absolutely. That’s what’s made me delay diving into it the most. The feeling of being rushed, but even this one hour painting I had same changing might and I found it to be a fun challenge. I can see it getting quite frustrating tho…
