4 minute video explaining how it's done and people with tinnitus reaction on it after having tried this method:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBgkPOGD6gw [Title: People with Tinnitus try the "Reddit Tinnitus Cure" and the results are amazing. Plz ask ur Dr.bevor]

My tinnitus comes and goes. I will definitely try this next time it happens. Thank you

For me it whent away all together for a good little while, its great when it hurts really bad

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Does nothing for me.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I heard about this a few weeks ago and have been doing it when the ringing starts, amazing and highly recommend!

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I cried the first time I tried this. I had forgotten what silence sounded like. I wish it lasted longer.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Immediate reduction. Thank you.

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

So glad it helped for you :) Have a wonderful rest of your life with reduced Tinnitus problems! :)

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

My dad suffers from this. It was driving him to depression. He started taking an anxiolytic. Still has it, but now he can handle it.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It worked, but only for about 30 seconds. How weird though. I've had this for decades and that few seconds of silence felt strange.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Works for a few minutes and then effect wears off and then returns to previous status.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Holy shit yes thank you I forgot how to do it properly since last time it was posted this always helps a lot

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No change for me unfortunately.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

After 12 hours one of my eyes fell out and a slight reduction of tinnitus. Definitely helped.

5 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Keep trying until 2nd eye falls out. If 3rd falls out, you've been doing it way too long.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's taken some practice, but now I do it every night before I go to sleep, it's made a huge difference, I don't need a fan going any more

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I only got a very mild form but this method did work for some reason! After about a minute it came back like it wants to start again but

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

again disappeared. Probably only lasts a couole of mins but maybe it is more permanent if done regularly?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 155 Dislikes 3

Well it worked for a couple of mins but I can already hear it starting to return, but I'll do that again for just a bit of relief!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have had tinnitus for my entire life and this doesn’t work.

5 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

I've had tinnitus for the last two-ish decades (don't be like me, bring ear plugs to a metal concert) and this doesn't work.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Got mine from dancing with friends on top of one of those giant 5ft tall speakers in a club. This method also did nothing for me

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There's a new breakthrough treatment: https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/10/electric-shocks-tongue-can-quiet-chronic-ringing-ears

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Fascinating thank you

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

OK. I just did this and it worked. What?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No effing way. It's quieter.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've done this 2 times. Didnt have tinnitus but sounds cool and I feel involved

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Good team spirit there tiger.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I saw this before but the video helped explain a bit more. Shit worked for me placebo or not I'll take it. Excuse me while I happy cry.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I shared this with one of my grumpier customers at the bar and he said he felt like an idiot but it helped. Also have done this for mine 1/

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

With great success. Unfortunately it only lasts so long. /fin

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's awesome! I'm jealous tho, all the bars are closed where I am.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't be jealous. I'm only there out of necessity. I live in a very red county. I'm out of work on quarantine cause 1/

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A customer came in AFTER a positive test cause "Trump said it was no big deal" /fin

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This will cause my tinnitus to go away for 10-15 seconds and then comes right back. ☹️

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This only works for a few seconds for me.

5 years ago | Likes 121 Dislikes 2

Me, too.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Few minutes here. Still better than nothing.

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

I use it when I have to find something quiet like a vibrating phone. The ringing is so deafening I can't hear my surroundings that well

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

supposedly you have to repeat it several times till it goes away for good

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You have to keep doing it. All day, every day, for the rest of your life. You have to train yourself to do it in your sleep.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yuup. 20 years and counting?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. It was a glorious 10 seconds, but it took a minute for me to get 10 seconds of quiet.

5 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

In my case, that's the first time I've heard true silence in 20 years. Felt really weird.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

It has only been maybe 8 years for me, but it was still nice.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Wonder if the effect will last longer with repeated attempts (that’s what she said! Hahaha!) JK! Will ask my bro; he’s had tinnitus forever

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I have tried it a few times in a row, maybe I just need to keep doing it. Worth a shot

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm wondering the same. My partner won't let me experiment on them too much & I gotta save my chances for practicing med school stuff.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Probably works fine if you only have ringing but I have deep humming as well which sadly becomes a lot worse with this technique.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It only makes the little hearing i have left worse. No thanks on this "reduction".

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do you know if yours is vascularly driven? If this technique worsens it, it might be that you're actually "hearing" the blood vessels that 1

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

pass near your ear. Sometimes it is treatable, though you have to have a physician who is familiar with it and good at looking big picture.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The frequency is constant so I assume it is the usual hearing loss tinnitus.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can't "get rid of tinnitus." You might be able to alleviate the symptoms, but there is no cure. Anyone saying otherwise is full of shit.

5 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 8

I get it because of nerve damage in my ear drums. There is no fixing it for me. Only suffer and wait

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Im born with it. I had multiple ear surgeries when i was a kid, so Im not used to not hearing it. This did not work for me. I play drums.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So, yes and no. True tinnitus is essentially a nerve injury and cannot be fixed. There are cases where a nerve is compressed and restoring1

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

mobility through the cervical spine and soft tissue that surrounds the nerve can allow it to fire/work normally. Similar to carpal tunnel.2

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is almost exclusively for people who have had atraumatic, gradual onset or fluctuating presentation.3

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No cure for now at least. Not sure the exact cause of the issue, probably a range of things, but a temporary solution is a lead.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My dad's is due to years as a helicopter pilot. I'm amazed he can still hear at all.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I meant the physiological cause, but yeah, with such a huge number of cases, the cause has to be widely experienced.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The physiological cause is damage to the cells of the cochlea usually by loud noise.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I see. Wonder how long it will be till we can solve the issue. Extremely widespread, and damages the quality of life for millions. 1

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: Tinnitus is actually identical to phantom limb pain. Your ear is damaged, the nerve that used to connect to that frequency no

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Tinnitus has a variety of causes, some physical, some mental. Over simplifying causes/solutions like this doesn’t help anyone.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

longer knows what to do, so it just kinda runs all the time (or whenever it feels like).

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Dunno if placebo effect or not, but wow. Way less ringing after one try!

5 years ago | Likes 256 Dislikes 1

The alien in your brain hushed up for a few to listen cuz it heard something knocking and got scared.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ok, this is actually the best!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy crap, I just did it and it worked for me as well!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Too long to explain in an Imgur comment but while I wouldn’t call it placebo, the effect will only ever be temporary.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Im curious to know more. But even a temporary relief is a welcome one!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

¹If we hypothesize the thrumming creates a temporary effect & test it against other mechanisms for efficacy, only then can we test to see if

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

²the effect is temporary. The effect might be overwritten by brain plasticity & require additional therapies or another as of yet unknown

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

³tweak. Whatever it may be, like the Eply maneuver or the brain-port balance device, it deserves to be studied further.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If it's placebo effect, still a benefit isn't it? :) Going by the research I've done on this, it isn't placebo for many. Glad it helped!

5 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 2

¹I think it probably more refractory in it's effect. It's temporarily altering bad brain wiring, but it needs to be done frequently to make

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

²a lasting effect. It's success reminds me of the treatment to rehab people who've lost their sense of balance.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*its Fucking autocorrect is a bane.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It really did. Ive been slowly getting louder ringing in my ears for last few years. This is a welcome relief. +1

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

So glad it helped, I can only imagine how bad this could be 24/7. This truly makes my day & I hope it makes a difference in your life :)

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's not how placebo works, by definition you cannot tell yourself if it's placebo or not. Considering there's no real treatment for ..

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

tinnitus, having this kind of treatment that might be really working is better than nothing. The perception of the patient is most important

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Placebo treatment is a problem for illnesses that have better treatment and will go worse when left untreated, e.g. everything w/ homeopathy

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

People with this condition, is it really 24hr constant ringing or noticeable sound? Does it come and go?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

24/7. Very loud. This actually did make it quieter very briefly, but it didn't stop it entirely.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me it's always there, but usually only noticeable when there isn't other ambient noise (i.e. trying to sleep). This did help some!

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Always here. In my cases, it's low enough to be drowned by other during the day. At night where everything is silent it's much lourder.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For me, it's always there. Sometimes more noticable than not. High blood pressure makes it worse for me. The odd time i dont notice it...

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

...but i think that's just because im used to it.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This sounds like me also.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

For me it comes and goes. One day I can't hear out of my left ear, the next day my hearing is completely fine.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Mine gets worse with stress.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine is 24 hour. I always hear it. It is depressing :(

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've done this 3 times in last hour. On the 3rd try it seems to have reduced mine slightly, which is more progress than I've ever had. 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 580 Dislikes 2

Nothing here

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll keep doing it over the next couple of days and see if it has any permanent reduction. Thanks for pointing out this method! :) 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 267 Dislikes 0

.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Glad it at least got some progress! I would be thrilled if this could last more longer term (even if you had to repeat this a few times/day)

5 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

Thank you for sharing the video. I had heard of the method but none gave clear instructions. Its not gone but greatly reduced.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

It's not meant to be permanent. It temporarily changes how you perceive sound. Your ears are expecting loud noise so they tune out the ring.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You basically overload your ears for temporary relief. However tinnitus is literally just in your head, temporary relief can go a long way.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So, the high pitched ringing is just the murmer of the voices when they're not actually being coherent? Awesome

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tinnitus is your brain fooling itself into hearing sound due to hearing loss. My hearing aids have a programme called zen which manages it.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

What a great name

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

And also program, of course!

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I studied stereocilia in grad school. Tinitus involves outer hair cells that actually make noise that can be recorded with a microphone. >

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Here's some info about inner vs outer hair cells. They help hearing but sometimes go bad. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK11122/
