While I'm afraid your first statement may turn out to be true, I have to disagree with the second. We have bases in Iraq simply bc we have bases freaking *everywhere*. 750 bases in 80 other countries. Of course we're going to establish some in any and all countries we've already invaded. It's just what we do.

"Dragged into" implies that Iran didn't already call the U.S. the "Big Satan" and was openly antagonistic to U.S. national interests. But it is, and they do, and they did. That said, I doubt he puts any boots on the ground: no need, unless they fuck with international shipping (the U.S. has a very broad "don't touch our fucking boats" policy)

I was being a bit hyperbolic, but tensions *are* pretty high. Shit could pop off easy. It could be real easy for the US to get dragged into another war in the ME. "Our commitment to Israel's security is ironclad." Biden says, after all.

I'm sick and tired of people jumping into conclusion about WWIII so often, even more so when we just had this dumb eclipse recently, like as if it was forewarning or some dumb superstition non-sense. This kind of war has been happening for a while, long after WWII.
