That quartz post is completely bullshit.
China, Japan, and Russia are the world's primary producers of quartz. Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Germany, South Africa, and the United Kingdom also mine significant quantities of the mineral.

that's what I read too (quartz producer). maybe even #1 in the world but not the only source of HPQ (high purity quartz).

Not a chip manufacturer, they just extract the raw quartz and send most of it to Europe for further processing.
