Same here. Ubuntu meets all my needs and I no longer have to pop to a raspberry pi to do Unix work. It reminds me of NeXTSTEP, great OS to get stuff done with.
Rather than go to Windows 11 I bought a new Thinkpad X1 Carbon with Ubuntu. BEST DECISION EVER, no ads, no clippy, no AI crap, all my apps run fine (even Quicken under WINE) and to be honest it's a lot less weight. Libreoffice is even better than MS Office.
Windows 2000 was probably the best in terms of security and stability. Moving GDI into Kernel led to billions of security issues. Still, Windows XP was very useful and not a bad OS.

I set up a PC with an HDD, half a terabytes goes with Windows XP, the other half woth windows 7. disconnected from the internet at all times. I use it to play old games without compatibility issues. having 16gb of ram with a MB that can handle 64 is like having a nasa computer back in 2010.

Some 15 years ago I wrote my own version of Wordpad - well, it was really a different UI wrapped around the RTFbox - because I wanted to have specific macros running automatically for specific formatting needs. Then I retired, but AFAIK the old firm continued to use it for some other 7/8 years, even on W10.
Be careful. End of support for windows 10 is already here. If you continue to use it, you'll be susceptible to more attacks as it is not being patched anymore
