TheMershedPerderder
Peak movie there
ButtscratchMcPherson
I want to see a TMNT movie with the actors not wearing masks. Same costumes, just no turtle mask.
darthbiscuit
1st movie was and will always be a straight up masterpiece. 2nd movie is… less good but really fun to watch. 3rd movie was great. Especially for an earlier CG film. (Huh? Skipping one? I don’t know what you’re talking about…)
khora
Typical Hollywood to not employ real turtles.

TheFastpaws
I grew up on these movies. We watched them a ton in our house! Donny was always my favorite though but my temper got me compared to Raph though.

Ernie Reyes Jr got promoted to face-time actor by film 2.

Holy crap! I was an extra on the first movie and one of my favorite memories from that shoot was hanging out with all the top-tier martial artists who were in the suits and played members of the foot gang. In particular, there were a couple of days where one of them brought a camcorder to the set. To kill time between shots, they improvised silly, Kung Fu theater type battles. To set up each scene, a couple of actors would pantomime an argument using exaggerated mouth movement, while/

a guy stood next to the camera, providing all the dialogue and sound effects, imitating the dubbed voices from kung fu movies. When the fight began, everybody jumped out from hiding places and engaged in ridiculous fights, with widely pulled punches and impractical acrobatic moves. 12 badasses showing off their flashiest moves to each other while having fun. It was amazing to watch and remains one of my favorite teenage memories. I keep hoping some of that footage will appear on the internet.

I miss Henson
Darkwell
"Now we've got weird sounding Muppets," to misquote Family Guy.
adamlstf9
I miss practical effects. So pretty much the same thing.
aShogunNamedMarcus
Yeah, and so many of them from film hold up amazingly well in 4K vs the first 10 or so years of CGI (since some of those were added in post at an already downgraded resolution and look pretty garbage now)
IceWeaselX
Secret of the Ooze was my favorite TMNT movie for reasons.
Paige Turco is reasons.

Oh damn it is!!! I didn't know that! that is awesome!

Turtles 1 is how you do a crossover into live action. It was also more true to the original comics which were more dark and serious. Modern crossovers are trash.
lostinthoughts
It's a really dark movie with cyberpunk/dystopian elements. Fun fact: as a kid, I only watched the german dub and they censored it with funny words and sounds

IIRC The blooper in this scene is wild.
One of the crew members couldn't leave the frame before the cam started rolling so he pretended to be a furniture by kneeling down with his back towards Raphael lol
Mewmus
Loved the ninja turtles as a kid
BoogiesOogie
Still do
Mewmus
yup
Kotarisu
Proof that animatronics, quality craftsmanship, and dedicated people can produce amazing results. None of the CGI beats the original live-actions, for me.
theskepticinme
I quite enjoyed the Seth Rogen animated turtles movie.
TheFastpaws
The Bay turtles were just trash looking.
Evenmoreuselessname
Michael Bay turtles like
Kotarisu
Hey, Toad was awesome, even as a Koopa Troopa.
