"Gumdrop, also known as Gummi, Mr. G. Drop or by his ID number 33846058, is not your average kitten.
Sure, like all kittens, he is ADORABLE! But it’s not his long hair or facial markings that make him different. He was born with cerebellar hyperplasia. For him, the condition is mild, so he’s just a little shaky. It’s especially noticeable when he walks or eats and although it’s a disability, it is kind of cute. His condition won't get worse, but it won't get better either. But that's not why we're raising money for him."
"When Gummi was six weeks old (only two weeks after he started eating solid food) he was hospitalized for a life-threatening bowel obstruction. He was literally full of poop! We talked to one of the great vets at the Mount Laurel Animal Hospital every day to ask if he had moved his bowels or if we had to consider humane euthanasia for his painful condition. At 1.3 pounds, Gummi was just too small for surgery.
By day three of enemas and oral medication, we finally had success! Gummi has been diagnosed with a severe megacolon. He is now three months old and still doing well on medication and a diet of wet cat food mixed with carrots."
"When he's four months old, he will be considered for surgery to remove his poorly functioning colon. The Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter ask that you open your heart and help us help Gumdrop this holiday season.
