I liked the first Frozen movie. The second was meh. Last good one from that corp was Raya and the Last Dragon. From there it went down hill.
As an artist I have to say! What a fucking job they had animating Rapunzel's hair. Respect.
ElorYosnak
Don't gatekeep. Tangled is great. Enjoy the movies you enjoy
supertigerlamp
I'm not sure if it's better than Frozen 1, but it's AS good. Far better than Frozen 2, though.
PipWhipple
Never saw Frozen 2, but I know the opinion is usually "it exists." Frozen 1 was, at least to me, only popular for the song and a couple of memeable moments. Tangled, though, had a world! Life! Heart! A royal family with all three core members still alive! And a horse.

Frying pans! Who knew?!
Rastifan
Best zombie apocalypse weapon in a tight spot.

The cartoon series they made was also way better than i thought it'd be. My kiddo forced me to watch it, then i couldn't stop!
thebonesofmyancestors
You know what was like that for me? The Penguins of Madagascar cartoon series. Seriously. It is so much better than it has a right to be.
RaxianTheta
Fun Fact, AUSSIE Tangled was 2x as good.

Sebastopol140
Much much better, yeah!
pareidoliaperson
Tangled is my romcom I keep rewatch. No Notebook, no Notting hill although it's nice, Tangled!
SeasonCat
I'm much of the same opinion, though I liked the second Frozen more. I think it was two of the songs just hit me more powerfully, and for one you could really feel the VA's emotion
mohavewolfpup
Yet to see either here, need to one day. The Olaf animatronic is fun to see though
BigBlueWonder
It’s not a competition!!
OldFashionedJimBeam
Omg. This. Tangled was awesome, so was Frozen 2 (that opening song, solid gold), and Frozen, well, you just have to let it go.
Quessir
Why they had to make her eyes be 30% of the volume of her skull has always bothered me.
BenderRodriguz1010
Tangled is better than a lot of movies. Love me some tangled.
ArcherPointingFromTheComments
Better straighten that out.
xj4low
This scene is my favorite in the movie. The chalk art is amazing.
MyGreatestFearBoner
Yeah but the KH3 level for it was some hot dog shit.
GuyWithDog
This movie still makes me doing loud squeaky noises that only I perceive as laughter. It's my absolute favorite among the newer generation of the Disney movies
IhopeUgetwhatUvoted4
I preferred brave... but tangled is good too.. didn't care for frozen.
lostlittletimeonthis
Don't forget Coco

Fun fact: Rapnuzel’s hair laid the ground later for the fur engine in Zootopia to be the way it was: https://youtu.be/ZGpdSACJCVg

Agree! Tangle was so funny
jbrightmans
I liked how Flynn would call Pascal a frog.
GuggelPlayer
Tangled is so much better princess movie than Frozen. That one song messed up the story more ways than one
Rastifan
Idina can sing, but good grief I learned to hate it.

The horse is my favourite character by far.
SteveTheEgg
I like Enchanto and Soul wasn't bad. But yeah, i lost interest and haven't seen a lot of the newer ones. I also didn't really care for Raya.
Rastifan
Oh yes Soul. That piano piece...
periwinklepanda
Tangled is my favorite hands down over Frozen. "I have a dream" is hilarious and bomb.
And if you've ever read Rapunzel's revenge, it gives some of those same vibes (definitely recommend a read).
SlagathorDeb
My favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
eion85
Tangled paved the way for Frozen.
MeisterKleister
Yep. Tangled's success is also what started Disney's trend of naming films after a single word.
tomgordon55
Great movie. Need to watch again.
Lucariouigi
The guy (forgot his name but played Shazam) who played Finn only joined the movie to possibly be in Kingdom Hearts. And he is
FiftyShadesOfTiramisu
Zachary Levi. Shame he turned out to be a trumper. All over the map in terms of apartheid israel / Gaza. One moment he calls himself pro-Palestine, the next he posts shit like this
periwinklepanda
Makes me sad, disappointed and disgusted. I really liked his work. Chuck was an absolute favorite of mine, and I always looked forward to seeing him in other things. But yeah, not anymore.
Lucariouigi
Unfortunately my comment about him wanting to be in kingdom hearts and him being Shazam are literally the only things I like about him. Him being a trumper and anti vax and everything else about him sucks
FiftyShadesOfTiramisu
I really liked him in and as Shazam. Which is why this is so disappointing.
SuperMermaidNinja2Turbo
It’s really good but so is Frozen. I like Frozen just a little more tho.
Rastifan
Not slamming Frozen. The first one was fun. The second, not so much.
Circe007
Agree. Lots of things to say why Tangled is better, and precisely this scene is one of them: the dancing people at the party after the coronation ceremony in Frozen, they are copypasted characters and the detail on them is simple.
Septcanmat
Everything in Tangled is better than Frozen’s equivalent. Rapunzel is a better heroine than either Anna or Elsa. Flynn is a better hero than Kristoff. Mother Gothel is a better villain than Hans. Maximus is better than Sven. Pascal is better than Olaf. The music is better. The plot is better. Etc. etc. etc.
Circe007
While I still maintain my opinion Tangled is way better than Frozen, I must acknowledge that Idina Menzel is much better singer than Mandy Moore and, obviously, Frozen was a better investment for Disney. Fair is fair.
VodkaReindeer
I thought the 3D effect of Tangled was good on my TV.

Seldom has matching the wrong song to the wrong movie felt so right.
The song was written for a neglected (and negligable?) movie called "Quest for Camelot". And yes, that's the incomparable Celine Dion at the mike.
Septcanmat
Wait, that song is from Quest for Camelot?! I always just knew it as being from Celine’s Christmas album.

Technically, Brave was Pixar not Disney Animation. While still part of the overarching Disney Umbrella. I look at Pixar as a separate entity.

Encanto was really good. The grandmother was a bitch.
Niagaran
Didn't one of them have superhearing or supersmelling? Did Bruno never fart in the wall spaces?
Veh1
Yes, one of them knew all along Bruno had been living inside the walls. The movie treats it as a joke.
Flareside
And received no punishment for ruining a perfectly good family
FTUG
The fucking part where they were taking a family picture and Mirabel was right behind the fucking camera and nobody told her to get in the picture was fucking insane. That grandma can fuck all the way off for making her family treat Mirabel and Bruno like they are the plague to their happy little family.
toolzgalore2
I didn't like Encanto because there was no consequence, if they ended the movie with all of them losing their powers then getting them back in the second movie. I would have liked it better, personally
horsetuna
I was wondering about the fact that there's a way out of the Encanto now, and what the possible consequences of that would be.
Also I do hope if the ever do a sequel, there's some realistic backsliding from Abuela. One doesn't change overnight that easily.
pareidoliaperson
Lest I recall incorrectly, same nascissistic type as Lady Bird´s mom. And to be honest, I loved lady bird, unless I read someone saying the mom´s a narcissist and it blew my mind. (Then I scrolld the comments and EVERYONE was saying it).
Bobbobbobobbananafanafobob
Encanto felt like "generational strife: boomers ruin everything" the movie.
IMakeLotsOfReferencesAndRemakes
I mean at least that specific boomer had serious trauma tied to an event. She seemed to view the miracle as the will of her husband and the dissonance of trying to care for a member of the family she thought this essentially perfect and infallible (it was neither) thing she essentially worships seemed to have rejected must have been hard. Still she was the adult in that relationship and should have talked to someone about it rather than talking to the candle in her room.
Goldensands
Bro that second sentence. Try and speak it out loud would you
rusrsdude
Definitelt needed a few commas, at the very least, but still understandable lol

Goldensands
So long as you turn your head, squint your eyes and are used to reading moronic shite by people who can't articulate worth a fart
Wasnbo
From what I hear from Hispanic families, the LEAST believable bit is the abuela admitting to wrong-doings. Personally, I love how they deal with the idea of generational trauma. It would've been nice if Mirabel said "Abuela, we have a lot of problems to work through. But that's for another day. One thing at a time."
Rastifan
Was not bad. Just not memorable.
bolobass
Agreed, a good story ruined by disneyfication.
shorey66
Hard disagree, and the songs were incredible
Rastifan
Don't get me wrong. I liked the songs. The movie as a whole was just... ok.
rdmage11
I really enjoyed Encanto, I just couldn't understand how "We don't talk about Bruno" became the popular song when "Pressure" was clearly a better song.
lostlittletimeonthis
There's a rock metal version of Bruno that is super catchy

The “stuck in head” factor
somecallmetimmmmkay
Tangled is amazing!! It’s one of the few I have on Blu-Ray!!
DdCno1
Still the best option if you value image quality - 4K Blu Ray at least - but even the older 1080p variant easily beats most streaming video. There's not replacement for displacement, I mean, high bitrates. Also, it can't get taken away from you (unlike content disappearning on commercial streaming services) and isn't entirely reliant on your Internet. As are other means of acquiring high-bitrate content, but I don't want The Mouse to send their goons after me, so I'll leave it at that.
Septcanmat
Last year I embarked on the journey to transition all of my physical media to a jellyfin server. It’s not recommended hardware but even an RPi was streaming 4K video just fine over wifi. It’s been a ton of fun and a very rewarding project. I encourage everyone to give it a try. And if you set up a reverse proxy and a static IP, you can even stream remotely. Who needs Netflix or D+ when I can watch all my own movies anytime, anywhere, as long as I have internet?
somecallmetimmmmkay
There’s a lot of fancy words in their Miss we are not but humble pirates
DdCno1
True. I may or may not be sailing the high seas right now.
somecallmetimmmmkay
Quite alright! I’m jealous, mi ow’n sea ‘ventures ende’d long ago!! ;)
DdCno1
I'm running a mixed ship here. Some things I buy, some things I plunder. Depends on convenience, opportunity, how much treasure there is in my cargo hold and how I feel about the other ship's captain.
mohavewolfpup
Still better acquiring the physical media. Too bad 4k drives are a flaming gate keeped mess. *cough* lots of the other sources suck because they trim sizes. Garbage like 1920x800, etc. so you lose quality
DdCno1
It's not difficult to find remuxes, which are 1:1 the same image and sound quality as on the disc, since nothing is being reencoded. Agreed on the drives though, but this isn't new. First-gen Blu Ray drives were already a mess (ask me how I know), as well as the software to use them. 1920x800 is fine for 1080p, btw: It just means they cut out the black bars if the aspect ratio isn't 16:9. Just do what I did and find groups that deliver the content, size and quality you're looking for.
Pilgrymm
I'm gonna wreck it! Imo tangled is great, the first frozen is good, second frozen bad bad, wreck it Ralph is amazing, second Ralph is good til the horrible plot hole. Raya good too.
Valharroth
I thought the 2nd frozen movie was really good and the 1st kind of meh. Tangled is definitely better though.
OlksPolks
What plot hole? Been a while since I've seen it
Pilgrymm
They don't actually defeat the main baddie, just the insecurity device it created. The virus was still there and could replicate any insecurity it finds at any point. Maybe I'm wrong and that's not the point but it just seems odd to me that they'd just let the virus go.
Septcanmat
“I’m bad, and that’s good. I will never be good, and that’s not bad. There’s no one I’d rather be than me.” is an INCREDIBLE piece of writing. The way it sounds like such a trite and hollow self-affirmation at the beginning, and comes full circle to being truly meaningful and poignant at the end is so good.
Rastifan
Yeah I liked the first Frozen move. The second not so much. Same with Wreck it Ralph. Had so much fun watching the first one. But they lost momentum with the second.
BrigadierMorgan
I love the second Frozen and think the first one and Ralph are a bit overrated, but I understand why those movies are loved.
Pilgrymm
My main issue with Ralph 2 is the plot hole. The virus they got to take down Death race never got dealt with. It made the Ralph thing and then just effed off.
When Frozen came out me and wife had a joke where if we liked something we'd say it was "second only to Elsa"
Kinda got tired of it though lol
PipWhipple
What bothered me with Ralph2 was the core lessons learned in the first were forgotten and...suddenly we're fine with Going Turbo?
yifin
The difference being vanellope didn't try to take over the other game
PipWhipple
True, but wasn't the main part of Going Turbo leaving your game for another and risking the loss of one or both? Plus the risk of deletion if she gets hurt!
