Picked up some lumber and brackets at Home Depot, nothing fancy.
Get that shelf some mending plates, shelves love mending plates.
Had a bunch of extra carpet left over from recarpeting one of our rooms, so figured it would be a good shelf cover to protect toe beans.
The homemade scratching post is a length of dowel rod from a closet rack, some rope, and gorilla glue.
Came out pretty nice, but I wish it was thicker. Next time I'll need a...girthier rod.
First shelf is up!
Second shelf and scratching pole are up, the stairs came from a premade cat tree in the bedroom. Since they stuck out at a weird angle and the cats didn't use it to get onto the cat tree anyway, I salvaged it for this project. Ninja is inspecting my work to ensure that it's up to code.
Potato-quality night time shot after it was finished...I was so excited to turn the corner and see the cats on it that I was fumbling with my phone to snap a pic before they jumped down.
Finished product during the day! The cats have taken to it really well and love to sleep on the upper levels, or just hang out and stare at whatever is going on in the condo.
Cat tax of Daisy in the Christmas tree.
Cat tax of Ninja in the cat bed.
Cat tax of Ninja and Chairman Meow hanging out with me while I game.
Hopefully Jackson Galaxy would be proud! If people like it I'll try and post a part 2 when I work on the bedroom, and maybe more parts for other rooms.
Happy New Year's Everyone!

This is incredible! Great job!

As far as the scratch post goes, I took two 2x4s, around 3 foot long, and screwed them together. Perfect girth. Also, #blackCatMafia
