Sustainable plastics already existed. I've bought drinks from gas stations in cups made out of corn. But I hope this stuff really takes off.

The various different plastic substitutes are aimed at fulfilling very different roles - just like all the different types of plastics do.

Like that Styrofoam replacement made of mushrooms. I don't think I'd ever want to eat out of it but it's better than plastic packing stuff

No single material will ever be able to replace ALL plastics. OTOH, being forced to diversify our resources is in itself a good thing!
