Sauce: Soupy Sales, Soupy Sez! My Zany Life and Times (With Charles Salzberg. New York: M. Evans and Company, Inc., 2001), pp. 198, 200.

“Milton Supman (January 8, 1926 – October 22, 2009), known professionally as Soupy Sales, was an American comedian, actor, radio-television personality, and jazz aficionado. He was best known for his local and network children's television series, Lunch with Soupy Sales (later titled The Soupy Sales Show) (1953–1966), a series of comedy sketches frequently ending with Sales receiving a pie in the face, which became his trademark. From 1968 to 1975, he was a regular panelist on the syndicated revival of What's My Line? and appeared on several other TV game shows. During the 1980s, he hosted his own show on WNBC in New York City.”

Isn’t he the guy that told children while he was on tv to go in their parent’s wallet and send him the money?

Yes. He said to send him the pieces of paper with pictures of people with beard. In return, he was going to send them a postcard from Puerto Rico. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/soupy-sales-new-years-day-joke/

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in 1993, the comedian claimed he received only $1 and some Monopoly money. But that same year, he told an audience at the Brokerage Comedy Club in Bellmore, N.Y., that he received $80,000. One woman in attendance shouted, "I want my dollar back!" To which Sales responded, "That's my ride home." He also recalled a 28-year-old woman who sent in a dollar with the message, "I've seen your show, and you should go to Puerto Rico."
