(barbarians) hey, we keep protecting you from kingdoms inthe east wanting some of that phat roman loot. How bout making us citizens (romans) fetch off, door guard. Do your job, and don't sully our towns with your presence (barbarians) and i took that personally
RetiredLaserMan
Quite the Liv Tyler look she has - I like it!

DeviousWay
That is not Goth age armor! That is Gothic age armor! Get your goths right!
cytherians
Squire: "What type of sword does she have?"
Knight: "I think that may be a broad sword, but also---"
Squire: "I know that broad has a sword. I was asking what type it is."
Knight: "You nitwit!"
RabidNutria
Pauldrons but no shoes?!
QuartzPoker
Needs a helmet she can dramatically remove to give her enemies a shock. Also, helmets are the most important piece of armor.
LastOnTheBall
She'll do in war!

What is that kind of sword called? a claymore?
cytherians
It's a broad's sword.
😏😉🤪😄
It's actually a two-handed sword or "greatsword."
kahooki
Easy (source: swordscomic.com):
FoxPesdassi
2-handed sword, or Zweihander.
Scuzzlebutt142
Or a Montante, or a great sword.
Sarcastus
Please clarify that. Visigoths or Bigtiddygoths? Both are fine, but have different audiences and movie ratings.
keillrandor
She's not a Hivisigoth, at first glance, so...
Sarcastus
But she is cool as heck and deserves some fine sunshades to bling with at armor!!
cytherians
Do they typically go barefoot when suited up in armor? 😏😉
CrusherOfDreams
Nothing about this is Roman, you cur. If anything more Britannia based which the sword solidifies. So try pretending to be a Briton awaiting the Vikings or the Normans. Imagine.
Felderburg
Are all the men arriving named Norman? Or just some of them?
QuartzPoker
Most of them were named Harold and William
Deleteded
That's why she has to pretend the Roman part, were you not paying attention?
CrusherOfDreams
Sorry, what'd you say? I was scrolling images of cats.
beemarr
Zweihänders are from Britannia?
CrusherOfDreams
Longswords in general, that is a facsimile at best and doesn't represent a Zweihander, more a Landsknecht if we're going for how close to a real sword it is.
VinnieJonesDiary
Do you think longswords (which the above definitely is not) are British??? Why?
beemarr
Are you saying that a landsknecht is a type of sword?
CrusherOfDreams
The joke has played itself out and now I'm tired. I know it's a mercenary - they popularized the use of two handed swords when offering their services to England, which for a long while were referred to as "landsknecht" swords.
mercyPandaRunner
Don't try to make sense of english speakers abusing historical german terminology. Hell, it's hard enough as a german speaker to navigate medieval german terminology.
So, a Zweihänder simply means a two handed sword. Any two handed sword is a Zweihänder (or Bidenhänder in an older form, a "both-hander").
A Landsknecht is a late medieval mercenary infantry from the holy roman empire.
Maybe they meant something like a Flamberge. That's those wavey two-handers.
mercyPandaRunner
PS: Claymores, Greatswords and whatnot are also all Zweihänder. Japanese Odachis are Zweihänder. It's a general term.
