Heh. Math sex.

Well a laugh and a lesson. Kudos!

Am I superposed to understand any of this?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great! Now I have more questions than when we started!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tiny octopus just had the first talk with the girls about quantum theory last week. Started slow with the cats and the boxes.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

You know you have to talk about the boy parts too, right?

This is art dude, THIS IS ART. I learned something, I enjoyed something and I am happy with it. THIS IS ART.

My god that was beautiful.

Reminded me of my undergrad quantum mechanics courses, in a good way.

I'm gonna pretend I read all that

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Heh... spooky action at a distance.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

That's literally what Einstein called it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know. It's a cool refernce.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tbh I thought quantum computing had something to do with quantum linked particles? That thing that people were talking about where you change one particle and the other one mimics the change or something?
Somebody smart will know what I'm talking about and be able to tell me what I'm talking about in a way that's not wrong.

IIRC this comic has a title text which mildly rants against xkcd creator Randall Monroe, something something "outnerd this now"

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like I should at least get a MSc after reading this.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL something....I think.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Are you... uncertain?

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

In principle

Shut up Walter!

So, anybody else just stopped reading everything and started skipping ahead?

Next discussion with mom will be about that spooky action at a distance, locality. It's the idea that our 'local' universe is actually non-local and things at one place can affect things at another that aren't necessarily related at all. But, that's my very weak understanding of it.

Why do I feel horny all of a sudden?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because of this. https://xkcd.com/853/

I like how it lost me at interference. I got bored.

Thanks bruh. I feel so dumb right now. There are so many part people on Imgur.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So is the only way to get mathematically precise explanations of these things to read science journals and textbooks?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. And the occasional extremely nerdy blog

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is way too detailed for me. I’m just gonna keep reading stories in the New Yorker about how enemy states will “solve” quantum computing first and use it to destroy everything digital and decrypt all secrets.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Every time I see this, something else seems to click. I don't think I'll ever really get it, but at least every time I read it my conviction is reaffirmed that anyone trying to sell quantum whatever is talking bullshit.

This advice happens to apply to more intimate situations where classical physics are in play.

That's what she said.

This is making me spooky action at a distance.

Damn, beat me to it

Thank you for doing that so I didn't have to.

And here, in a nutshell, is why so many people look at quantum physicists as if they're members of a weird religion, taking so many unseen, unprovable things on faith. Well done, by the way, very well done. Enjoyed it!

I don't know what's so complicated about a photon taking all possible paths to a destination at the same time, yet taking only a direct path, while also taking all of the divergent paths at the same time, to arrive at the same destination at the same time, or a different destination based on the timing of wave oscillations

this is like that comedian routine about the molecules in a chair and your hand.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY FUCKIN' SENSE. That comedian is Pete Holmes. https://youtu.be/OyDpS-GftCk?si=ZKbJI6s7ipW2Gvz-

None of it is taken on faith. Religious people like to think so, but this is all experimentally proven. Good, the holy Spirit, demons, devils and spirits and magic, THAT is all taken on faith. Just because it takes years of study to understand does not mean it's the same thing as "God done telled my heart!"

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

I have met God, it's not taken on faith for me. (It's us, we are God)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

People hear about the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle and interpret it to mean that we can never know anything about a particle and so can't be studied.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's not all experimentally proven. That's the issue. It's theoretically proven but that could change tomorrow when we might discover something completely new or we discover that 1+1 actually equals 3

This brings back nostalgic memories of when my Mom explained Heisenberg's uncertainty principle to me, sniff sniff.

Is your father, your father..your mom isn't sure. Could be Mr. Heisenberg the milkman
