Public Aspirations

Portland (OR) has this decorative tree installed in a park downtown. Very lovely piece of art.

Around the trunk are statements of aspiration or affirmation. Kind words meant to help. A lovely addition. But what is this middle one?

WTF, Portland?! No. No no no no no. Do not be proud of your bodily functions. Be properly ashamed and keep them to yourself, hidden, like everyone else. We ALL appreciate your shame and diligent quiet service.

But really, no need for shame, but also no need for pride. As physical beings, there are things we all must do. We can acknowledge and accept that in ourselves and others without bringing pride into it.
