It's a retroactive construction, but I've always parsed that as Leia laying as long as she could until the opportunity to strike back came to her. Jabba was very likely WELL aware of who Leia was, and wanted to humiliate her. Luke comes in and wrecks the Palace, gets Jabba to a point where he's much less well-defended, and... we see what happens in the movie

Lighting, possibly a little makeup. Also, it's not uncommon to use something already form-fitting, like a bra, as the base for bikini armor cosplay. Also also, a bit of adhesive to make the top stay in place can make the whole thing look a bit weird.

Its not the costume, it's the skin that's showing, like around her chest. The coloring of the skin is off compared to her normal skin before the costume, so it looks like she is either using some sort of makeup/tanner, or some sort of sheer fabric.
I'm not saying it's bad, I was just trying to figure out why it looks off.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest; conventions can be cold as hell and cosplay can be downright miserable when the costume has minimal comfort factor. I've seen folks in full-on terry-cloth bathrobes because it was so cold between various photo shoots inside AND outside the building itself.
