The scene at the start where Blake (Thomas Jane) jumps in, dodges the massive shark, and removes the numberplate stuck in it's teeth sets the tone nicely. The steel balls on that character would in real life make him sink to the bottom in seconds.
Deep blue sea fucked me up as a kid. I'm still convinced that's why i'm scared of being eaten in the ocean. Like. I'm not scared of the ocean. I'm scared of being dropped into the ocean with no equipment and i suddenly slide a good number of links down the food chain.
Preacher: Einstein's theory of relativity. Grab hold of a hot pan, second can seem like an hour. Put your hands on a hot woman, an hour can seem like a second. It's all relative.
Tom Scoggins: I spent four years at CalTech, and that's the best physics explanation I've ever heard.
Only because test audiences made them kill off the lead actress instead (they said she deserved it since the whole movie was "her fault" to begin with).
Also, black guy in a water based horror movie survived to the end. And that was the biggest plot twist i had seen to that point in horror. As an 8 year old, i had only seen the basic horror movies, but i knew 2 rules: Teens having sex die Black character dies
"Jim and I used gene therapies to increase their brain mass. A larger brain means more protein. As a side effect the sharks got smarter." Has to be the most ridiculously funny line in any movie. hahaha

Gotta be honest, I hated this movie when it first came out but eventually I learned to turn off my brain and just enjoy the ride.

Just watched it in 4K for the first time recently. Such a fun movie. This, Jaws and The Meg are my top 3 shark movies.

That movie is responsible for amplifying my fear of open water and sharks.

“What legacy can I leave behind? Let’s start with the perfect omelette. Two eggs, not three. Amateurs use milk for density, this is a mistake.”

He never finished the recipe. To this day I still don’t know how to make the perfect omelette. Damn you L.L.
