Unpopular opinion: I didn't like Robin and Barney, because Barney is a terrible person. Even worst than the rest of the crew and he didn't deserve a happy ending.
This show was always uncomfortable and gross to me. Barney is clearly a closeted gay man trying way to hard to pass as straight and it's just him endlessly using and hurting and debasing women the entire time.
I will never understand how showrunners who have written 9 seasons with these characters completely miss their own show and believe the aired ending was a good idea.
It took a massive dump on everything they built up and have shown - Ted and Robin simply don't work long term, they took multiple seasons building Robin and Barney, changed Barney's character ( for the most part), lucked out so much with the chemistry brought by Cristin Milioti and threw it all away in 2 minutes at the end.
The real villain in how I met your mother is the writer who knew damn well he needed a breeder and then shoved Ted right back at Robin just so he could get everything he wanted.
Can I have the timeline that doesn’t have journalists accepting an award for exposing their president for crimes against humanity and they shake his hand and everyone acts like it’s cool we’re goood.
I'd go back to when they were considering putting The Apprentice on lineup, and find a way to convince the people in charge that the show was gonna tank, and they'd be better off putting something else in that lineup.
You could prevent the The 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike as it directly lead to the apprentice being renewed and trump becoming president.
oddly, I HATED the regular apprentice, but I actually really LIKED Celebrity Apprentice. Some of Trumps calls to fire people and that panel bullshit at the end of the eps really grated on me though.
Bust heads in the C-suite when they're making decisions about forcing windows 8 and the metro ecosystem. That'd also have the side effect of saving xbox from its dark timeline (hopefully)
my favorite thing about vista, is that it was windows 6.x, and windows 7 came out I believe as windows 6.2. they straight up repackaged it with a different name because we all hate it so much
I'd go back in time and save one of my favorite actors from dying in World War II. I know it seems a little silly but I just love the movie Kings Row and he was so good in it I just have to see more! I'm so thankful that technology has gotten to the point in the 70 years of peace where we can travel back in time easily. I know we're not allowed to change anything but no one's going to notice if I fuck with his eye sight test results a little. I can't wait to see the movies Ronald Regan will do!
Leak the location and timeline of Jeffery Epstein's most attended private isanld party to cartels, Venezuela, Al Queda, ISIS and dozen other extremist groups in early 2006, coordinate seaborn attack with all these coming ashore as all the celebrity pedophiles are mid-molest. No survivors. Thoughts &prayers
It sounds like this is just feeding potential innocents into the billionaire murdering machine, and oh boy that is not a sentence I ever thought I would write.
Either you change the system or we’re just murdering people who otherwise wouldn’t have become billionaires.
Gotta go back to the robber barons, deep 6 a few Rockefeller and JP Morgan types - VERY publicly - and keep doing that forever. Or just… make examples of a few politicians and ensure we get proper legislation preventing this.
i watched HIMYM on some streaming site years after it had ended. I'd heard people complain about the ending but I wanted a braindead sitcom to have on in the background while I did other things. I didn't know why the hell people complained about the ending......
and then I found out that the site I was watching it on had used the alternate ending. It definitely makes the show feel better.
The thing is, the show had always been about subverting expectations, and life not going the way you think or hope it will. Practically every other episode there would be a twist in the way the narrative was heading, resulting in the characters making the most of what life gave them.
I don't disagree that the safe ending would have been more satisfying. But anyone who was actually expecting it hadn't been really paying attention to the type of show HIMYM was.
Subverting expectations is great, unless it's the expectation of having a satisfying end to the thing you spent literal years watching. Comedies especially don't get to mess with happy endings often, because it reframes the entire work.
If you watch the extras to Dodgeball, they talk about wanting to end the film with the Average Joes losing the match, and how test audiences flipped their shit and hated it. Sometimes you don't get to do the unexpected thing.
Well I didn't say anything about whether it was good or bad; just that it was in line with the rest of the series. From the very first episode that ended with "and that's the story of how I met... your Aunt Robin."
Secret Fallout tie in. It flashes to the future where he is talking to the kids and you see a mushroom cloud off in the distance and "I Don't Want to Set the World On Fire" is playing in the background.
The alternate ending (originally released on The Whole Story DVD box set) gives fans the happy conclusion they expected. It omits Tracy’s fatal illness and Ted returning to Robin. A flash-forward scene implies that Barney and Robin’s marriage successfully withstands the test of time. The show ends with a touching voiceover from Bob Saget recounting the group's journey and culminating in Ted meeting Tracy for the first time at the train station.
No it’s not. The only reason he’s telling the kids the story is because it’s robin. He’s making it make sense for his children that “aunt robin” who they’ve known their whole life is going to be their stepmom.
No no no. Ugh..... Look, here's the thing: If the story is supposed to be about Aunt Robin, then including an entire romance subplot about their Uncle Barney falling madly in-love with her and making overt romantic gestures and his withering self confidence at the last second before the altar makes NO sense, he would gloss over that entire story because it makes Ted look worse. Nothing about the last season makes sense if the intended story is Robin, ESPECIALLY not the ukulele on the porch scene
