3. if i had to guess i'd say it cost him around 75 - 100K to build (25K for the frame + 25K per engine). That's super cheap for a new plane.

2. You can buy em as kitplanes (some assembly required), makes it way cheaper because they're technically homebuild and thus experimental.

1. experimental is the correct term, basically means it was build by the guy and doesn't need to adhere to all of the stringent requirements

They call it a prototype, experimental is the registered class. In Canada it would be a homebuilt, but still a prototype. Not final design.
