About 20 years ago used to have to travel from Canada to Virginia Beach occasionally for work and the hotel the company used was close to one of the air training bases. We timed them one day and found that a pair of jets went overhead around every 60 seconds. A massive expenditure of resources with very little return and I can only imagine a huge impact on the environment.
Years ago I was heading down the I-10 highway north of where this happened when a jet buzzed over the top of me. Till you experience it you have no idea how loud it is. He was low enough he had to juke around a bird.
My house in along the landing path of rarely used airstrip, and during military exercices I can practically read pilots name from the side of their F-18's/F-35's. One might get used to it during daytime, but in the middle of the night it sucks. Big time.
They used to practice this manuever over Correy Station, when I was stationed there back in the late 20th century. They were every bit as low. They were every bit as unexpected. This just happens to be in a more populated location. These pilots at least, compared to the other fly-by's we've seen in the news, are absolute professionals at what they do, and know their aircraft explicitly.
It's going to take a generation to restore good order and professionalism to our armed forces once kegsbreath and his idiot bros are removed from office.
There actually are rules about distance from the crowd, altitude above the crowd, etc. FAA rules apply to air shows, not just DOD's. The Blue Angels have been doing this "sneak pass" from behind the crowd at low level and high speed for years, so maybe they get a waiver to the rules for that pass, but there are rules. Whoever did that "investigation" barely went through the motions.
That is the point, yes. Put a corrupt official (like the secretary) in charge of investigating themselves so the investigations never come up with anything wrong.

By some miracle it hit the ground wingtip-first, making the wing an 8-meter crumple zone, and my friend walked away with only a broken elbow.
