Just over a couple of weeks ago, I rescued a disabled Bumblebee called Beelinda and looked after her until she passed on.
I posted about it on various social media and asked for people to donate to The Bumblebee Conservation Trust at https://www.bumblebeeconservation.org/join-and-donate/donate/
In a little under 24 hours, they raised £3000 in donations.
Please donate if you can. If the bees die, we die. We need to help them all as much as we can.

Fun fact: bumblebees do not have color receptors for red. But they can see ultraviolet. Many flowers have ultraviolet patterns on their petals to attract bumblebees and other pollinators (https://www.bumblebee.org/bodyEyehtm.htm)

I work in thr aviation industry. You'd think people building, maintaining and modifying aircraft parts would be fairly intelligent. When I mentioned bees dying will actually kill us I had several colleagues arguing I was wrong.

Except that honey bees and bumble bees aren't native to all the places you find them and often out compete local native pollinators.

That's how people are : they put things into order of importance, and decide their own morals and actions based on that. And if something bad is going on, they will think first how it will affect them personally, and from there they decide if they should care. I do suspect people who argue the fiercest why a "bad thing is not bad" are ones that know deep down the severity, but they refuse to accept it so their denial can become very aggressive.

That's because the hard truth is, we could probably survive without bees. Survive, not thrive, by living without foods they pollinate and finding other ways to do some of the pollination. I for one, do not want to live without bees mind you, but it is what it is.

Depending on the location there are can often be a lot of other more native pollinators that bees have largely displaced.

In America, we went from being dangerously low on bees to having way too many honeybees. But it turns out, there’s like thousands of different species of bees, but people only want to keep honeybees. But different species of bees pollinate in different ways. So we actually didn’t fix the problem. We might have made it worse by pushing other bees out of their territory by moving honeybees in.

She had Deformed Wing Virus and likely would have died quickly in the wild as she would not have been able to feed herself. Y flying from flower to flower.

I had to nuke an entire bumble bee hive. I did the outrageous thing of snipping some branches off an adjacent bush and then I got chased a quarter mile. Turns out bumble bees dont die when they sting you and they just keep doing it. I spent that night on the toilet alternating both ends and the hive was super aggressive the rest of the week. Nuked it with a couple gallons of vinegar cuz it was next to my mail box and front door.

Bees do seem to particularly like blue flowers. I used two have two bushes covered in blue flowers and they would get so many bees that I could hear the buzz inside my house with doors and windows closed. It was nice.

It's hot af outside. Outside I have shallow plates of water with small stones in them, and a small water fountain, so the pollinators and anyone else who needs it can have a drink.

I used to have a little bee drinking station as well until I found my pup lying in wait by the station and eating the bees when they stopped for a drink. Literally the opposite of the plan pup. Moved it higher up and only the birds use it now but at least they enjoy it.
