I was stuck for 3 years as a DM. I was scared I would never be a PC again
I decided on rogue as my class, anyone who's worked in customer service can understand why.
He's not even supposed to be part of the quest, but the Party can't pay their bar tab, so my dad sends me out with them to collect the money from their quest. Got to love hero forge

Character flaws make the game great. Shit stats? well guess what, my sorcerer is now the dumbest fucker on the planet, but has the power of a minor deity at his finger tips. Let the fun times role! Hell I find my DM prefers that too, it gives him something to work with for character growth and development, or something to dig at without it being super annoying to the player since you know it's weak anyway.

Usually, people ignoring the actual stats and constantly talking about how great their character is at everything. They tend to get upset when things don't automatically go their character's way.

I made a similar character after some infertility frustration. Agnes the Empty Nester. An over the hill gnome druid whose children were all grown and whose partner had accidentally blown himself up in an artificier accident. I made a whole family tree, over half the children were adopted from different races. I ended up picking up a baby bugbear in our travels named Poppy and generally was the groups mom. It was very good fun. Made having min maxers and extreme loot goblins bearable.

The dm rewarded me with a family photo album i could reference to come up with answers to difficult situations as long as i could d20 & bs it well enough. Like, "oh, my son, the one whose a *potato farmer has a friend with a tattoo above his butt that looks like that mark! He said it was for..." (*smuggler.) She had a treasured horn flask she kept full of spiked coffee bc her son gave it to her and, 'look! They forgot the R in WRENCH INSPECTOR! Hahahaah!'

Hooray DnD! Iām currently playing my first ever official campaign with a DM and another who has been playing since ā92. DM said this is the longest a campaign heās ever played has continued from lvl 1 (we all just leveled up to 13)! He said heās really stoked and excited on how our campaign has progressed and how into it our group is. We also use hero forge for our avatars. Have fun and good luck!

Id like to play one of these guys next time: Chaotic bard who is trying to be good. But once in a while cant help themselves and murders their partner mid coitus. Basic boring wizard who was cursed into being a cat for 200 years and finally defeated the curse. But sometimes is accidentally caught doing cat like things. Halfling Assassin / Rogue who spent their life doing tasks around town for cash and learned one day they could make way more money by taking a hit job. "Look! Its easy money!"

Lol I played a Tabaxi Bard, who would occasionally do asshole cat things like walk on the table, knocking things down, put his asshole in peoples faces, Had a thing for birds when he saw them, etc. Since he was a Bard, Charisma stats were of course high, so he could knock down an ancient urn and then talk his way out of it, sorta thing.

I'm a "go with the flow Cleric" because I just enjoy playing. I don't mind back-filling so that others can be half-dragon, half-orc bards and shit. The RP is the fun part, and nothing makes the group happier than when I crit fail on a heal!

I'm running a dwarf soux chef fighter with my friend, a halfling surfer bard/cleric head chef. They run a food handcard, the REO Grubwagon ( Rexxingtrum Express Orders crossed out in red paint), a taco truck. The DM keeps throwing monsters at us, and we keep asking "is this food?" And then selling the questionable meals in the towns we pass. Sahuagin ceviche, GIANT lobster tacos, megashark ramen... we've been on the coast lately.

Over the years I have come to love playing the role of the quirky, unoptimized support character. Let the min/maxers go ape and crush our foes with maxxed out eldritch blasts and a half dozen paralyzing polearm jabs... that brings them joy. But when we look back at the most epic moments of the game, we rarely remember a big damage roll compared to clever use of the scenery or funny interactions between players and NPCs.

It depends on the kind of "Rules Nazi"; one of our table's DM has declared ours, who just wants to make sure all parties are on the same page, as co-GM without story influence. It allows the primary DM to focus more on the story. If the rules lawyer/nazi isn't doing it for personal power, but because of wanting to play the game as written/intended, and willing to work with the GM, then they can be incredible assets to a GM less familiar with the rules.

If he says "I'm doing it this way, and have a reason." that's fine. Otherwise, he says, generilisk, I'm moving on, please find the rule in question and we'll figure it out.

Back in highschool, we created characters with stats representing the player, by group consensus. However, I had to be nerfed as a cheat character, which was confidence boosting. The only low stat I had was wisdom and that's because I was an atheist more than anything else.

WIS being heavily connected to religion and giving things like spellslots and certain magical defenses has been a thing since adnd (also known as dnd 2e) first dropped in 1983. If you've played dnd within the past 40 years, wisdom has been the dominant stat for representing religious and spiritual faith, which is quite antithetical to atheism considering dnd is set in a reality where gods are very undeniably real (and in many cases, actively meddling).
