Pollsters adjusted their models to account for that. But, that's still bad, because they did still slightly underestimate Trumps support in 2020. Pollsters adjusted their models to account for that. But, that's still bad, because they did still slightly underestimate Trumps support in 2020. So it being a close race, is bad, because that's in Trumps favor historically with the polls. Harris needs to be up a few points in the polls to win. Not be even, or down.

Polls were heavily in favor of Hillary in 2016. Dems got comfortable and stayed home instead of voting, thinking she'd win by a landslide. There's also a lot of new right-wing polling companies popping up that all favor Trump to boost republican morale and turnout. Don't be fooled.

I'm not being fooled, even really smart, Democratic strategists look at polls. I'm just worried Imgur is going to meltdown just because you guys didn't believe the data and are totally surprised if he wins.

Polls are almost universally done with phone calls to landline numbers... which most of the non-boomers don't even have. Heck, I'm in my 50s and haven't had a landline for years.
The polls that do go to cell phones are ignored because they are not listed contacts.

That is now false. Pollsters aren't dumb, they know they have to reach people on cell phones. Just because you ignore it, doesny mean no one else answers. I wish people would actually look at how polls are conducted before judging them. It's easy to see the 2020 and 2022 polls were fairly accurate. You guys ignoring them, doesn't make them not true. I think most of us have already accepted the possibility (if nothing else, we all understand that a record amount of absolute bullshit and nonsense are going to be flying around even if they do lose, including trying to scrape things up to the SCOTUS).

I agree for the most part (and the friends comment was partially in jest), but there's nothing wrong with blocking or disassociating yourself from Bad Actors or the Willfully Ignorant.
I used to agree that I didn't want to block anyone just in case they one day made a good point or had a decent argument, but by definition, Bad Actors and the Willfully Ignorant NEVER engage in that. And no one owes ANYONE their time or attention on social media. No hearts or minds are ever really changed here.

It helps you understand how batshit insane people really can get and to learn to work around the insanity. If we don't know what they're saying, we can't respond for those who are just ignorant of the situations being talked about to educate them in the reality, rather than abandoning them to the idiocracy. The more informed you are, the better a person you can be.

My post wasn't really about the blocking of people on the internet. It was asking for clarification into how not engaging with or avoiding those who are willfully ignorant or blatantly malicious with their "political" views is an echo chamber. The trumpers who see nothing wrong with him, the white supremacists, the "both sides" individuals. I already know how bat shit insane people are and I also know that I can not change them. On the extreme sure. But I was called a Nazi, then blocked, because I said I didn't support someone's proposal for universal healthcare on Imgur. And someonr just said I was "fellating billionaires" then blocked me because I said their claim about restaurant profits was inaccurate, and provided a source. In both cases, I made it clear I agreed with their overall point, just with the facts they were using. I'm referring to that block abuse thats now rampant on Imgur. Disagree. Block.

That is because people are exhausted. Every day, we try to parse MAGA yokel # 18 from Russian troll farm operator # 327. And sprinkled in between those are the well-meaning idiots who have seen the lines delivered by actors flipping the script, using progressive language to, piecemeal, deliver the foundation for a regressive message, and swallowed it hook, line and sinker.
This, of course, being the ultimate goal of the right's campaign of misinformation and propaganda.
