I'm a straight man in America, and as you might can guess this app doesn't mean much to me. That said, Flo has already bent the knee a few times to government regulations, and will almost certainly continue to do so during the troubled days to come.

I found some blanket statements a while back about how this app that, while useful, could be used to collect and track women's cycles in red states and higher-risk locations to monitor private pregnancies and track down 'abortion violators' and similar at-risk people. Now, I can't say what WILL happen in the coming days, but I CAN say that spending a few minutes of a few days here and there logging incorrect and meaningless data to bloat the systems could help someone down the line.

It might not, but it might, so please consider it. It's a small thing, but it's an act of protest and resistance. You don't have to know what you're doing to make the system harder to police.

it'll be sorted out by ai/data algorithms

Exactly. This post is a horrible idea.

AI uses data that's scraped from apps like this. If every program is flooded with users it becomes harder to parse the information for accurate tracking... and if that happens, the data being regurgitated into AI algorithms will also be less useful, more false, and more difficult to use.

In what way? If they're grabbing this app and putting in false information about who they are and accurately add "flo" data to it, how is an AI going to be all "wat no, ur a man?"

You people seem to think AI is fucking magical or something. Yet in the same breath you're all "lulz, can't draw hands."

Who wrote this post? The Heritage Foundation? Delete all data and apps tracking menstruation.

People use it, and it's helpful enough to keep. If it gets bad enough deleting is a decision its users can make, but in the meantime if it helps ANYONE I'd rather spend some time making it harder to fuck with than not.

This is a form of information warfare called "Noise Saturation." It is extremely common and goes back millennia.

they are saying for men to download it a bloat it with fake info to ruin it even more

Doubly so if they continue to do so by giving fake information that makes them seem pregnant. Especially in states that have banned abortion.

I understand. Thanks. I can read. And you think the app and the algo won't be able to sort out the gender from their phone data and simply weed out that data? This tactic is unsafe and - worse - leads to a false sense of security.

are you a dumbass? if i made a fake account and said my gender was female and load it with fake data, how would they fucking know? they don't ask for ID or any of that shit to personally identify you, its just a calandar. they get you by you putting in more info than you need to.
