#5 calculated for inflation that's the equivalent of only 107,000

#39 I killed like, 200 henchmen to get in a room with you. Stopping the boss permanently is the only thing that gives their deaths meaning,

#47 the best way to make a prophecy come true, is by trying to stop it

#9 - I'm only a couple of episodes in but I'm really liking 'The Good Lord Bird', a series on Showtime about a young slave in Bleeding Kansas who gets caught up with John Brown's freedom fighting

#16 It reminds me something familiar...

#41 Ah I remember school history (in Germany), where:
- WW2 and Nazi Germany were really, really bad but (insert apologetic bullshit)
- the industrialization came from England but was perfected in Germany (of course it was)
- the french revolution was bad, because it lead to a dictatorship and was totally unjustified
- the medieval times were the worst, because people could not afford food or healthcare and were ruled by kings (who were somehow awesome?)

#50 how fucked is it that you have your spirit trapped on the mountain seeing hundreds every day pass you up. Gotta sting a little

Looks like those green boots weren't necessary after all......

#49 Dems helped give you and strengthen labor rights, healthcare, medicare, medicaid, social security, the list goes on. They aren't perfect but stop acting like the two sides are remotely comparable at this point.

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

#49 the difference is the dems care about public opinion and being elected, the republicans just want to rob and murder us all and rape the children

Thought of the exact same thing!

Houses could be affordable, but you have to ban corps from owning single family houses in mass. You'll never be able to compete with a corp that can just keep issuing stock and gets to write off all expenses while you get 30-50% of your income taken away as taxes and fees. Affordable housing programs are a bs joke where they take a few hundred people and gift then massive amounts of money so they can buy into the priced gouged system, this is especially true of down-payment assistance.

It doesnt stop there. They will demand, "What the hell is wrong with the world today!?" As though its our fault. They have zero comprehension that all the politicians are 80 years old.... Just like them. They are 100% in charge. And have been since before we were born.

#1 Inuyasha is The Journey to the West if Xuanzang was a Japanese highschool girl.

6 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

There was an actual Journey to the West episode, too

#11 I will always call it the Gulf of Mexico, because that's what it is. Our government has no business imposing a new name for an international body of water. The government doesn't get to police our speech.

But I am Trans and I respect the rest of that message.

#16 Obviously because all AI companies produce is massive amounts of crap.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#16 - Simple... Because all AI ever produces is shit

They all have a vaguely threatening Big Brother undertone, too. (〇_o)

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ha, I wanted to say just that !

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I was going to say that they're trying to imitate Aperture Science, only instead of taking something that sounds boring and making it awesome, they take something that sounds awesome and make it shit.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"I want the cool science lab logo from Portal games but change it enough to prevent plagiation claims"

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#3 honestly what does that even mean cause it happens to me sometimes and I'm like how am I still connected if I have no Internet?!

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#3 Every other fucking morning at work.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#16 It's the Torment Nexus!

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It is. They're trying to give the impression that they've created Aperture Science from the hit game Portal or "Don't Let an A.I. Take Over Your Company"

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ooof! Even more accurate than I at first thought...

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#30 geez, yeah. Someone I know recently vented at me about black literature and I was like... you're an aging white dude, it wasn't written for YOU.

#5 $8,000 in 1950 is the same as just over $100,000 today, meaning that buying power is 1/10 of what it should be for it to be equal.

6 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I thought about doing this conversion then I remembered that this is a meme which is probably fabricating both numbers and also doesn't take into consideration the various ways in which the housing-as-investment problem compounds with the death of real wages growth starting in the 70's... and yeah, no real point in trying to bring any reality into this rage bait post.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Since you are catching down votes, I'll at least tell you that median house prices in 1950 were just over $7000 which makes this picture pretty accurate on the surface.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heh, that was the first thing I did when I saw that meme - went to the BLS inflation calculator.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I could sell my house for 3 times what I paid for it. But I couldn't afford another house as most of them are above that amount.

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Bonus - you're locked into ever increasing rates regardless!

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On top of that, the house is 70 years old; would comparing a brand new house to a brand new house be even more insane?

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends on who built it. Some cheap contractors bring out terribly cheap prefab walls that are made on the cheap and pretty much cobble a house together

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True, but I was thinking like for like in terms of quality.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the minimum wage should be at least in the mid-20s, but there is is, still stuck in the single digits...

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If minimum wage had kept up with housing prices since 1938 (when minimum wage was first introduced), it would be nearly $27 ($26.56) an hour based on 1938 and 2025 median house prices.
