We went over a roundabout side by side but he changed lanes in to me instead of staying on his side. He apologised to me for changing lanes without looking, I apologised to him for not making my intentions clear (and being a noob rider so not slowing down as effectively as I should have) and we were all good. People make mistakes, not everyone gets to ride away from them!
I thought I was recording the whole thing but I accidentally put my GoPro in to timelapse mode so I only got a couple of images.
janskis
How dare you behave responsibly and politely in traffic
richhoVoter
Amen
Changemydiaper
Avoid their blind spot
ESama
Happened to me. He was in my little blind spot and beep at me on time to return to my original lane. I apologize to him so much.
popitlikesithot
Glad your ok, respect overall <3
hand2glandkombat
Ride like you're invisible.
SamuthNBS
Maybe I am actually invisible
grifterdawg
Upvote for people being generally good.
sluggingsausages
I guess.
SamuthNBS
Thank you, I try my best and I assume he does too :)
theheebs25
that's how you know this story is fake
Furrsaken
I see GSX-R. I upvote. Is that 125 or 150?
SamuthNBS
125 in the UK :)
Furrsaken
Nice. I got the 150 GSX-S. Powerful little beast. Fun to ride.
Bridgiebird
Glad it didn't end on a fight or police
SamuthNBS
I am not a fighter and he drives a TT so neither was he luckily :)
qtRaven
Tip for ya biker bro: When in doubt, assume they'll do something stupid. You can't always brake. Keep an eye open for room to dodge.
WhispererInDorkness
Better than being knocked up by accident tho
rayleen123
"he" looks very female to me tbh
SamuthNBS
She's the passenger!
rayleen123
Oh shit, the steering wheel is on rhe wrong side, sorry my bad
SamuthNBS
I think you'll find it's the right side ;)
6Rstar
In time you get a bit of a "6th sense" for other drivers. Always assume they dont see. Some years ago I got hit by a car. It sucks.
ThoughtSandwich
NZ or OZ? looks like Auckland...
SamuthNBS
UK, near Brackley
marhentges
I would ride so paranoid. Always having an exit strategy for the “what if”
WeeemRCB
Stuff like this happens all the time, but I don't mind as long as they apologise/acknowledge it. Basic politeness goes a long way.
BackfiringE28
Audis nardo gray... they should call it primer and clear coat.
SamuthNBS
It looks nice on some though I do question it on low spec shopping trolleys
Cutwail
I'm genuinely scared of motorcycle, not their fault, i'm just scared to hurt someone.
SamuthNBS
At least you care! As long as you don't make any sudden moves and stay in your lane they will avoid you, it's a two way street!

Had someone almost do this to me on my bicycle the other day. Speed limit was 10 mph.
kiwi71
Blindspot?
SamuthNBS
I wasn't in that spot the entire time as we were going different speeds, he had actually just passed me
kiwi71
?
nasebyDog
I hit the deck yesterday on my bicycle. Driver ran right into me while I had the right of way. He wrecked about 4 blocks away!
SamuthNBS
Oof sounds horrible, how did they keep going for 4 blocks?? Glad you're ok
WatcherNotCreeper
Many stories, stopped riding after got hit the 2nd time when the driver "thought I was going to turn faster than I did". Ride defensively!
TCGView
Good. No one was hurt, apologies were given, and hopefully both of you learned a valuable lesson.
Danniboy27
I think the problem with a lot of minor incidents is people are hard traindd not to admit fault in an accident
SamuthNBS
Or indeed in life at all, ever. Some people hate adrenaline and it makes them angry, so they cannot forgive or apologise
SamuthNBS
We all have the scared or angry instant response but some people aren't physically capable of calming down and deescalating
beaurexgard
When this happened as a noob rider I put my steel towed boot into their door. Was the talk of the highschool.Earned me a sweet girlfriend.
SamuthNBS
I'm 32 so getting highschool girlfriends isn't as high up my priorities as it used to be sadly :(
JesusShaves
Glad you’re OK.
SamuthNBS
Thank you Jesus
SniperTeamTango
As you're new then I'll ask you for something, that's practically begging. Please, do not, pass commercial trucks on the right. Please, dont
SamuthNBS
You mean left as I'm in the UK but yeah, I've been driving for 15 years so I'm all over that not dying stuff :D
chrisrush232000
Ya, cause if they following procedures, they coming over ASAP
SniperTeamTango
This is somehow not common sense in my area.
B1gBarda
Nice! As an ex motorcyclist my advice is always assume you’re invisible to everyone else. Enjoy your riding. I miss it!
dohcohv
As a driver I assume no one can see me either. Was almost hit when a person tried to merge into the 26' brightyellow box truck I was driving
Arcticstorm141
Great advice to driving anything on the west coast
marhentges
Why don’t you ride anymore?
B1gBarda
Car accident in ‘16 :( broke back, head injury etc. glad I wasn’t on my bike that time!
SamuthNBS
I used to drive very fast cars so I've carried some of that over but it's still totally different, but fun!
ryanaf360
Im guessing UK so im curious what kind of cars?
deathsausage
Someone was tailgating so I gave the what the hell hands and the back off. Was next to him a lights. I looked at him and he but window down1
TheRicM
SamuthNBS
Yes, this is the exact face and gesture I use!
deathsausage
2 and he said what! And I said thanks for backing off you might not have been close but I'm still learning and his attitude changed 3
deathsausage
3 pissing people off isn't a way to make them more aware of riders
SamuthNBS
Exactly, the only hand signals I give (on a bike) are a thank you, a 'wtf?' And a thumbs up. No point making someone angry!
FunkyFreshPup
Yes!!!!!!
Brimfire
Weird question: US or Europe / AUS?
deathsausage
My story was from Australia
coffeeeyedrops
I thumbs down instead of flipping people off now. Im not mad just disappointed in bad driving.
deathsausage
I do the 'nod' so much I get a sore neck lol
MoonRiverFrost
Locally, we lift a couple fingers from the steering wheel as a kind of wave. Haven't seen it outside of this region, but it's really nice
