This should be taken into account when comparing NATO budgets

The European allies of NATO were blamed for not paying enough for their defense. Not just Trump, every US president since Reagan (I guess?) asked for higher spendings on weapons and technical equipment for military purposes. I’m glad that Germany (and shout-out to tiny Austria! Look at you, you beautiful mountain beasts) accepted so many refugees from Afghanistan. But I think the costs for that should be also be taken into account when comparing the national budgets for defense.

It would be interesting to see how this changes of the next 6 months as this one was done in 2020.

Compare all you want. There’s no real comparison in terms of simple cost. Obviously this is good but don’t make it about money.
