They are not actually. The master ring is for belay not for arresting a fall. Never seen a master ring fail, but it's bad form.

Typically a dynamic belay like that has a much lower fall factor than a straight up belay, that might be why.
Sure and it must orient the rope more effectively for speed. Lead climb comps probably clip in as normal.

The only part not the same is the wall surface material/texture itself. But they’re looking at standardizing that across all competitions.

Boulder is scored by number of attempts. With bonuses for reaching a key point as well as making it in the first attempt (called a flash).
Max points for completing the problem in 1 attempt. No falls etc. usually 4 problems per event. Topping all 4 first try w no falls is 100pts
