#10 ... then remembering the knowledge is useless because you don't talk to anyone.

"Can my background flaw be social anxiety?" Yes. Always yes.

I grew up shy. I worked through it, and now I feel like it is my hidden superpower. You'd never know, but it's where my strength is.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm working through my shyness now by being in ROTC. Growing more and more confident, but its hard sometimes!

#3 This phenomenon always fascinates me while Im taking a test in college.

It was always the question of doubt. I've answered every question, done a once over for stupid mistakes... am i really still first? AMIWRONG

We had a girl in school who was so shy (she was pretty smart tho) that she would take an F on every class presentation or oral report.

I was so damn shy I almost never used the bathrooms at school. I can remember each time I did, and I can count how many times on one hand.

What the fuck is with the HS girls constantly being in the restrooms? I'm still bathroom shy and that shit was not okay.

I'd be in class pressing on my bladder as hard as I could to get some relief, and even have to hold it the whole 30 min bus-ride home.

This was me with the canteen. I was petrified of that place.

Every time I scroll down to each picture, I keep double tapping because it's so damn relatable.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The worst part for me was being super shy around some people but not others, then when shit went down that got everyone's attention everyone

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

would be like "HIM? YOU SURE?" Then they would get mad like I was living a double life or some shit.

After all that internal prep you still didn't get your inflection right when you said, "here". Gosh, you're an idiot.

(Okay it's just one word, I can do it) "H*voice crack*ere" (Oh well, I've had a good life, time to run away and never look back)

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

As long as my voice doesn't Crack i consider it a win

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or you say it too quiet and the teacher repeats your name, so you say it again, and they still don't hear you

#1 and #2 i kind of figured everyone just did. I wouldnt consider myself shy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I grew up very shy. Reading Miss Manners books and pretending I was just acting helped a lot. I wasn't awkward, my role was.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it just reads itself in Tina Belcher's voice, I know.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was really shy, but also teacher's pet with all my teachers so I got to do group projects alone if I wanted.

Most people relate to this. You aren't as unique as you might think.

There's a quote about shyness that goes something like... shyness has a strange element of narcissism; that what we say and what we do truly

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

matters to other people.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most introverts are *not* narcissistic in their shyness, although there is a small subset of introverts that are extremely narcissistic. >>

http://academics.wellesley.edu/Psychology/Cheek/sensitive.html as an ex: here is a test for covert, or hypersensitive, narcissism.

One time I spoke up and the teacher yelled "SHHH EVERYBODY, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE HEARD HIM SPEAK!! EVERYONE LISTEN!!!" I died inside.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Too bad you didn't have a colossal burp lined up for that

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh my god, that would have been my greatest achievement

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Needless to say I never ever ever ever spoke up ever again.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

some teachers can be real assholes :(

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thankfully, she was one of my favorite teachers! Very nice. She just didn't understand social anxiety at all, thought she was being helpful.
