Because for the most part men’s sports have rules that make the games harder. Tennis for example
JamJarre
Or the women's sport has rules that make the games easier. These are top athletes - they should all compete under the toughest rules

So uhhhh, rank them by their ability to win? Isn't that basically sport already?
Lemmingofdarkestnight
It's just like the different leagues and divisions. You don't ask a top tier team to play the bottom
ThePickliestRick
Yea, but then you'd sub classify them from there. Just like with sports teams. Organize teams to play based on ability.
Most people who say the first also agree with the second
The reason we don't is because in most sports women can't compete at the same level.

this is still politics, sadly, because some people think human rights are a political issue
Just bc someone thinks gender is a political issue doesn't make it one. Trans people exist, and no amount of arguing will change that.
one side is vehemently against trans rights, making it political, regardless how many people see it as a basic human right, but sure

Wife played hockey for years. Mostly coed teams.
Netskimmer
That sounds reasonable.

In fencing we have mixed and women’s events. My trans teammates compete in mixed, and everything’s fine.

Out of curiosity, since the answer isn't obvious (to me at least): is there any benefit/advantage to either gender in fencing?
Going through puberty with a Y chromosome gives a lifelong advantage.
Also my coach won a national team championship while she was pregnant, which was never expected of me.

Men have faster reaction times on average [1]. Not sure how important that is in the sport tho.

So almost ending women in sports entirely.
Nothing stopping women playing sports. Just fewer would make the top leagues because they wouldn't be good enough. I don't see the issue
Athletic prowess is already used to determine success in sport. It's already a genetic lottery. This is the same thing, no?
Does the existence of weight classes in boxing mean lower weight category boxers can't compete? No. It's not 'if you don't meet X you >
> can't compete', it's 'if you fall between variables X and Y, you fit in this group, regardless of what is or isn't in your spandex onesie'

I'm pretty sure a woman fighter in the same weight category as a man would, on average, have less wins, for simple biological reasons.

I say open all sports to coed, keep the survivors.
I also endorse Frankie Boyle's idea for an 'anything goes' olympiad. Drugs, performance enhancers, whatever. Sure it's great to watch >
> Usain Bolt run the 100m in 9.6s, but it'd be even better to watch someone run it in 4 seconds while screaming about a panther nobody >
> else can see.

no idea who that is but I am also for getting the "anything goes" competitions. Roids, doping, robot legs...whatever ya got, bring it.

That would boost up the science! Mad rush for better robotics and or enhancement drugs! I say go for it! Might finally get cybernetic eye!
'And the athlete from Spain finishes first after obliterating the second-place competitor with a high-frequency plasma blast.'
Those would be the sports we would put death row inmates in. Survivor gets life in prison instead.
Killing spree!
