#8 forgive my cultural ignorance, but do babies in cultures famous for spicy food come out able to tolerate spicy things? Does it pass through their mother's milk? When they start solids do they enjoy the spice, or do parents have to work them up to it?

That's a good question. Based solely on my restaurant experience, the pregnant and nursing tend to avoid things that may upset the palates of their children. Additionally, kids' meals are typically bland as can be; just salt and sugar where appropriate. I didn't even like mustard when I was a kid, now I put hot sauce on virtually ev

no. had a convo about this with my infant's Indian pediatrician on how to introduce spice. Indians basically start them off slow then build up to what is typical for the family to eat. By the time the child is 3, Indian toddlera are eating much spicier foods than Americans.
