My first summer in the desert.

Jun 11, 2025 8:15 PM

(39.4c)And summer technically has yet to begin. Having lived most of my life in the Midwest, I’m used to only flirting with triple digits in the hottest part of the summer. This seems excessive. Our first 100 degree day was in April ffs.

(72.2c on the street) Thinking about trying to cook an egg. Edit: this video got messed up upon upload, I apologize

What there is to look forward to here in the low desert. The low humidity makes the sun more intense. It burns me and I get a rash if I’m in it more than 10 mins. Even with the tan I’ve developed so far

Long time locals will scoff at my tolerance issues

Young Momo. She’s still this cute albeit less playful these days

See you get first summer, second summer, then aftersummer summer. If you're real lucky you get a heat wave at the end of November.

Arizona is beautiful! Do some desert mountain hiking. At this time of the year you need to go out very early in the morning and be done by 11 AM.

Learn about water needs. Learn about snakes. Learn proper hiking cautions. Carry supplies and be prepared. Have a portable cell phone charger.
