Top-down processing

You understand what is meant due to top-down processing, this means your brain fills in expected information automatically.
You aren't foolish for missing the error, the brain disregarded it as unimportant. This helps you process information faster.
The exact reason for the error is due to an enlarged perceptual span, you look at the center of words and see 4 positions to the left, and 15 positions to the right. This tells us where to move our eyes next.

Always upvote Science (although Cog Psych is by no means my favourite).

That's ok, it's kinda egotistical for the brain to spend so much time thinking of itself.

Incidentally, I am in the field of Cog Psych... so that's probably why it's not my favourite. I come here to AVOID work! ;)

Sorry, what if I told you that the Hoover Dam is over 8 feet tall and expected to stand for at least 10 years? Sorry I have no dam knowledge

That was... actually interesting. Thank you! Maybe I'll stick to Psychtoolbox from now on though.
