The US farming system, under Trump, is about to basically collapse within a year. Excessive costs due to tariffs, combined with loss of manpower due to the witch-hunt for working migrants, has led to a US system with zero integration, zero government support, zero export options to other nations... The US agriculture and food systems are literally going to collapse.
We outside of the US need to start preparing for this. It's going to be necessary to stockpile as much as we can, because we're going to have a lot of hungry mouths in America soon, thanks to the moron felon.

It won't collapse, but it will undergo some changes. You make some excellent points about farm and processing labor shortages, and exports are absolutely critical for the vast majority of producers. Half of our fertilizer comes from places we have tariffs with. But we're a resilient bunch. We'll figure it out and keep food on the table just like we always have. It may not be what we'd planned or wanted, but we, and you, will make it despite what these asshats are throwing at us

I wouldn't say collapse; part of the agenda here is to move farming from family-based to corporation-based. Trump met with companies like Archer Daniel Midlands and Cargill in December; there's good reason why these large corporate agricultural groups are staying silent with all the farm losses recently.

Collapse. They will also cut funding that pays for the excess to be grown which is kept as a reserve for when disaster strikes and reduces yield. Basically means first bad harvest will bring famine as there is no give in the industry now

It's already moved to corporation-based. You literally can't buy a "family farm" unless you're already rich, and no bank is going to give you a loan to start one up.

The US is already far too tethered to the idea of automated farms. In a conflict scenario, these systems won't be worth the copper in them.
