When my phone rings

Just basic spam/scam avoidance. Not in my contacts, toll free number, number originating overseas, etc., etc. All right to voicemail.

ETA: wow, front page? thanks!

And my voicemail is a message saying to leave a message or you will be blocked.

Standard, but I forgot my doctor was calling me back.

Plot twist: my voicemail box has been full since 2021

Just don't be the guy who was lost in the woods and didn't answer several calls from search and rescue because they had a blocked number. :D

"This voice mailbox is full."

Good

My voicemail is "just text me"

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I stopped answering my phone years ago. I also recorded my voice-mail greeting in 2004 and forgot my PIN to reset it.

Who calls anymore? Text like a normal person damn it.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

My phone indicates two different warnings, maybe three. I just reject the call. Eff 'em.

I disabled voicemail a year ago and never looked back.

Am I the only one not so socially anxious to take a call from a stranger?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I disable voice mail. If they know me, they know how to get a hold of me.

And then I don't check my vm. I let'em stack up-9,10,11 for weeks until there's one I actually probably need to talk to then I spend another

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Week building up the strength to listen to them and I've usually missed some important life shit I shoulda have dealt with so I delete them

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All and feel like shit for not being able to life and then start the whole process over again.

"Why it's my old friend, Scam Likely!"

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I take it one step further...DND. If you're not in my contacts my phone never makes a sound.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I let the google machine answer the call and screen it....

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Love the call screen, but hate when it's legitimate and the transcript says to call back at another number

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

the number on the transcript is rarely matching what number they say...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They don’t even leave a voicemail. And if it’s important enough. They’ll call back or actually leave a voicemail.

And then you have to call back and wait 30 minutes on their customer service queue for a 2 minute call.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would you call a number you don't know that didn't bother to leave a message and then wait on hold ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm talking about cases where they do leave a message, but it requires me to reply. E.g. Fedex calls to pay import fees on a package.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Lots of phishing texts happening now. Do not EVER reply.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You have my number? Straight to noisemail!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder what percentage of us look up the unknown numbers to see where it came from

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's amazing how spam has reshaped our social structure.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Call screening on the Pixel is fantastic for this.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Love the feature

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I answer with "what kind of scam is this?" It is usually followed by a click as they hang up...I'm also getting fewer calls these days.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my favorite it when looking for a job, your phone rings and you think omg a callback it's happening and then the number starts with 1 800.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Voicemail? What is this, 1998?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For years my phone number is in an area code that’s not where I live. So whenever I see that area code, I know it’s not worth answering.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same here! The only people in AZ calling me are saved.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite was the one time I got called by my own number....

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least my phone has started labeling all of those as Spam Risk.

4 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

Mine has started saying "number verified" and I was like oo ok! No, still spam FML

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mine too, says "Scam Likely" and blocks the call.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Over these past 2 years Scam likely has been the only person to keep checking in with me. True friend there.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That's like the old joke about the mail carrier thinking your name is "Occupant."

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a doctor trying to get hold of patients' family members, I hate this. And if your voicemail doesn't identify you, I can't leave a message

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Sounds like you might work for Kaiser Permanente? If you confirm or deny I might be able to tell you exactly why nobody gets your calls.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I feel like that's something that more people need to know. I never did!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I respond to texts. Send a text!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If the number doesn't identify you, they can't. "Your lab tests came back, you have cancer." Is not a text you want just anyone to see.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I doubt you'd say that script over the phone either
