Technology advancements are an issue for all sports. It's "unfair" if someone uses shoes that makes you run faster, gloves that grip a ball better, striking surfaces that deliver more power, etc. Those things get banned.
It's just especially true in racing. If the contest gonna be about displays of skill that the audience can see in action, then everyone has to use almost exactly the same technology.

Same happened in the British Touring Car Championship, all wheel drive was banned because - you guessed it, quattro is untouchable. I've got quattro, love it, especially in the poor weather, the difference is marked on twisty roads, even at non-race speeds.

He had figured out there were no rules on the fuel line, so his was like 4 inch diameter, and held several gallons.

Ford Europe has developed cars for the European market for 80 years now. They are so vastly different to the American cars that you can say Ford Europe is a different manufacturer than Ford USA.

For many in Europe, Ford is a European company due to how vastly different the cars are compared to NA cars, as they let the Brits and Germans design and engineer them, GM tried the same with Opel/Vauxhall but could barely make any money and sold them to the French.

But professional sports are profit-driven businesses. They get to decide whether the contest they're having is primarily about technological advancements or driver skill. They're not being dicks bc they chose 'driver skill', they're just picking the right business model.

I had a 90 Quattro with a massive turbo. Loved that fragile beast. Got my ribs quite bruised by a handful of South Carolina highway patrol for doing axis spins in an empty parking lot. Held me over the spoiler so my feet didn't touch anything and whacked away with the extendable nightsticks. Better than the PR24, in my experience. Couldn't get me on a crime, but they weren't going to let that stop them from teaching me a lesson. Still flipped them off as I drove away.
