A trio of silent film stars looking for a gig accept what they think is an invitation to do a live show in a small Mexican town, only to realize with horror that the “heavy” isn’t acting and the guns aren’t shooting blanks.
THREE AMIGOS wasn’t the first to do the “actors mistaken for heroes” gambit and it wouldn’t be the last, but there’s a sharp script and just the right amount of magical realism that keeps it fresh. The movie gets plenty of comedic mileage out of its heroes’ arc, and the more absurd situations like the Invisible Gunman are hysterical. This is a feel-good comedy that’s easy to watch.
THREE AMIGOS is on Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play.
