I actually much prefer the attached version, it's way more practical for any scenario where I need a bottle, which is when I'm on the move. Worrying about the cap while pulling bags n shit sucks.

Some countries including EU have regulations to allow only attached lids anymore, because so many landed in the environment. It's not stupid but its effect pales in a nuclear war

Back in July of 2024, the EU enacted a policy that require single-use bottles to have caps that are attached. The goal was to reduce plastic litter, as the caps themselves "are far more likely to find their way into the environment and pose an enormous risk to wildlife." The Ocean Conservancy found that plastic bottle caps are one of the “top five deadliest forms of marine pollution", especially harmful to seabirds, like the albatross, that regularly mistake them for food and ingest them.

Wow ok gotcha. I was just thinking that I don't believe I've ever lost a resealable bottle cap in like 40 years(though I don't drink from plastic bottles very offten these days). I always just took a drink, resealed it. It was never like sitting somewhere on its own. Maybe that's just my OCD.
