A lot of people think they look boring but it's one of my favorite radios. Big late 50s Zenith AM/FM set. These actually sound really great. The whole cabinet is basically a speaker cabinet cuz it has a giant speaker and a little tweeter on the right side.
In my opinion probably one of the best engineer radios of the era. In fact so good that I think it's just as good as anything made today except you just have to wait for a few seconds for it to warm up. Absolutely better made than anything today because most of these actually still work when I get them and most of the time it's just a basic recapping job meaning all the capacitors get replaced
This one is a late 40s Hoffman radio. One of the California companies. Back when there were regional manufacturers. So we see a lot more of those out here versus when I lived back in the South where they were none of them

I think it's because so many of these models survived they're very common in the radio collector world. They essentially don't really have any value but I don't care because I think they're extremely well built

These are awesome! I would pick up a grip of FM transmission dongles so the radios can still be used after everything goes to digital signals.
IMO an intermittent half-dialed FM is better than the all-or-nothing digital crap, even if it saves freq bandwidth.
