Request: THAT Scene from FMA. You know the one.

This gifset was a request. I wanted to move on to another show, but this was brought up in comments on another post, so I decided I would do it.

Years ago, during FMA's original run on Adult Swim, this was the first episode of the show I ever saw. It was unlike anything I thought possible in a cartoon. It struck an emotional chord that's stuck with me ever since.

Going back to make these gifs, I had to watch and rewatch each of these scenes, probably a dozen times or more, to get the timings right.

After the majority of the video capture was complete, I had to edit them, going through frame by frame. It was haunting.

I saw the looks of horror on Ed's face as he realized what had happened.

The derangement of Tucker, trying to justify what he'd done. The gaunt face, the shadowed eyes.

I can still hear Nina's voice in my head, hours later.

Making these gifs was an emotional experience. I was nearly brought to tears, multiple times.

Fullmetal Alchemist (And Brotherhood) is my favorite anime, for a lot of reasons. If you have not seen it, I cannot recommend it more. Watch both. Watch the movies. Read the manga.

This show is the epitome of bittersweet. Sacrifice and loss to make you stronger.
