N. Ireland riots.

Tldr: Scottish and English immigrants want immigrants out of Ireland. Buncha wee scrotes.

There's been rioting the last two nights in and around Belfast in Northern Ireland, after a knife attack by an immigrant. This is my feelings on it, I'm not stopping to re-fact check myself so this is the situation as I understand it and more a vent than anything useful.

These riots are being pushed by outside agitators, most of the candid videos I've seen were by English right-wing influencers who flew over to N. Ireland. FB is awash with bots supporting them.

N. Ireland is still, very much a divided land. There are the Catholic, Republican, nationalist communities. People who tend to be pushing for Ireland to unite and remove British rule from the North of the island.

Then there are the protestant, unionist, loyalist communities. Who see themselves as British and Northern Ireland as their British ruled home.

They are the sons and daughters of colonists who were shipped to Ireland and never learned the Irish language or adopted the culture, the opposite in fact.

And it's mainly these loyalists pushing for the violence against immigrants, while the violence has been largely condemned by the nationalist communities.

The troubles ended almost 30 years ago, but the terrorist organizations didn't disband, they just stopped large scale bombing and shootings but they still exist. They have become drug dealing gangs, running protection rackets and have their grips in the poorest parts of their communities. Using young men with little prospects to move their product and punish their debtors while they keep their hands clean of everything but the money it makes.

Im 38 and that's old enough to remember some of the horrific events of the troubles, I've witnessed people getting shot and beaten and I've seen victims of the Omagh bomb as they were brought into hospital when I was 10 years old.

Most of these kids rioting haven't had to witness it but we're brought up around people who did. Many people on both sides still glorify it, and will have regaled them with stories of what they did during the troubles and riots.

You might see the Irish tricolor dotted around some of these areas, they are primarily right-wing influencers from the Republic of Ireland who never had to witness any sectarian violence. The loyalist groups will welcome them for now but on the 11/12th of July, the loyalist communities will be putting the tricolour on top of their bonfires to watch them burn. Anyone from the nationalist communities taking part in these riots are going to have the leopards eating their face.

Now the loyalists politicians are using this attack to further divide the island. They will push for a hard border between the Republic and the North, as they are unhappy with the current border (that is a result of brexit). A hard border goes against the agreement that ended the troubles. It's called 'the Belfast agreement' by loyalist and the 'Good Friday agreement' by Republicans. A hard border in Ireland will bring back the troubles.

These riots wouldn't have happened at this scale, if not for outside interference and a push of social media bots championing their cause. No one has mentioned that stabbing someone multiple times in the face is probably a sign of mental illness and not some cultural thing that immigrants do every Monday. My wife works with immigrants and people married to immigrants and they have been living in fear.

Northern Ireland has been neglected by the British government for the last 30 years and this is that seed coming to bear fruit. They allowed paramilitaries to continue, our politicians go and have meetings with them, asking them for advice and sometimes permission, while they undermine our society to maintain their dwindling power and make money off the harm they cause in their own communities. It's in their interests to keep people down so they have a steady supply of young wasters to run their drugs and throw their bricks, because if all them young fellas fucked off to work a job or study at uni, the paras might have to lift a finger to do their own dirty work. And now they've a load of money stashed around the place for troubles 2: secterian boogaloo.
