For the shitbag who campaigned against no new wars he sure is fixing to get us into one.

He said, "even i dont know what I'm going to do." He's clinically insane and should have no part in making any executive decision.

Money, blood,.. And wont serve for nothing.

In Afghanistan, it took the United States 243,000 deaths, 2.3 trillion dollars, and 20 years to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.
Next, let's try on the entire Axis of Resistance.
Ritawho
whoknowsanymorelol
yeah if they are planning a full invasion it would be one of two scenarios 1.) US military goes in with the Israelis. The US focuses destroying the entire government and military of Iran, while Israel goes to each nuclear site and dismantles everything. After, they leave Iran in smoldering ruins for the citizen to put back together with no occupation as they don't have the numbers. The US could do that fairly easily. However if they should is a different story. 2.) They prop up some faction in
philomemo9000
Is there a foreign country ordering the FUCKiNG USA to go to war?? (with maga as president). So they spend the blood, the money... And guess what, wont work!
whoknowsanymorelol
Iran and use their help to control the country. This would be the forever war occupation scenario. You would know they are going down this route if they start mentioning some faction on FOX news and how they are the "good ones"
somethingcleverlol
yeah thats about right. the US occupied Afghanistan with a few thousand troops for most of the 20 years because they were aided by the Afghanistan government they put in place
PTFCMcGee
Don’t forget the Kurdish rebels who helped against that the US subsequently betrayed and abandoned when it decided the occupation of Afghanistan was no longer as profitable or popular as it was 20 years prior.
Pevinsghost
WHAT nuclear sites? The ones that the IAEA inspectors, the CIA, the NSA, and every European intelligence agency all have agreed for the last 30 years don't exist? The civilian ones for making medical use materials? In the country that has built so much propaganda around nuclear bombs being against Islam that they'd trigger a coup if they did build one?
DocWino
It only works if everyone has them or no one has them. Nobody that has them, will use them.
Pevinsghost
My point is, Iran has none. They have no nuclear weapons. None. There's no nuclear sites to dismantle.
You're also wrong about no one using them. The militaries look at them as just bigger bombs. Macarthur had to be pulled from duties in Korea because he insisted on using nuclear bombs to create a no man's land despite the likelihood that it would bring Russia and its nuclear bombs into the conflict. It's not smart to use them, but humans have a long history of doing the dumb.
TakeAChillPill16
They're talking about Forrdow - the site that Israel wasn't able to destroy. IAEA estimated that Iran has about 900 kg of uranium enriched to 60% (threshold for nuclear weapons is 90%), and much of it is believed to be stored/produced there:
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/us-bunker-buster-bomb-irans-nuclear-program/story?id=122945512
Pevinsghost
It's so dumb, it's not bomb material. Not to say it's nothing, but the worst that could be done with it is make dirty bombs and create area denial in a small area for a few years. And it's sad, they only even made that material after the US pulled out of monitoring agreements they had been strictly adhering to, so they went to Europe and said they'd continue holding up their end without the US and the Europeans were too cowardly to agree. Of course they made an FU gesture.

Oh good, another war that will last decades, kill millions, and cost trillions of dollars we don't have.

Sorry, didn't he campaign about never being in a war under his term because he's such a great fucking negotiator?
Rubbishtheresnoway9peopleusetaniwhida
Weird that anyone would think that was the one thing he said that wasn't a lie.
I get that you don't but some people still think he is just "negotiating".
I get the feeling that congress will pull the rug this time.
I'm probably grasping at straws.

Trust me I'm right there with you. I know(or knew) people who still worship him and just accept anything he does. I hope to God someone stops this madman or America as we know it is finished.

Trump is gearing us up for another terrorist attack. Then he will try to declare martial law or suspending the constitution due to war. When he started popping off with tariffs I predicted that we would see recession and possibly depression a war and a terrorist attack to keep himself in office
williamvanauger
Nothing is set in stone yet though. Let's wait for the signal chat to be leaked before we jump to conclusions.
justadude41123
A big problem is that Trump pooped on pretty much every ally we have so staging Military assets for a ground invasion is now impossible… amazing 8647D chess our president is playing

also fact w/o any proof if the USA atatcks Iran they could be punished globally.
Israeli words dont hold proof of any threat towards USA at the current time.

Considering how trump thinks, is he suggesting they remove the explosives from the bombs and use them like SciFi breaching craft instead?

It's either what you said or trying to penetrate bunkers by throwing humans at them. I dunno.

I once heard an interview with one of Castro's advisors, and it sounds the same: Everyone wants to give Trump the best news to get his approval, so they exaggerate or outright lie, and even if Cheetoh Musolini wanted to act on accurate information, he wouldn't be able to, and if he didn't care (more likely) he'd just be told whatever idea he had was genius no matter how fucking stupid it is.
ElroydIsGone
On an unrelated note, this also gets you into 3-day special military operations that can last for years on end.
dposton70
Many of his yes-men are also puppet-masters.

true, but they are also yes men and women (who are tow the line)

Which causes issues, because in situations where he isn't sure what he should do, like this. He asks them for their thoughts, but they don't have any.

Yeah like nobody gives a shit was hegseth's drunk ass wants to do, and he probably has no clue anyway. If he does, we may find out through signal.

Hey America, you know that universal healthcare so many of you would like? This. This is why you can never have nice things. The international community isn’t buying the “WMD” bullshit. This time your coalition of the willing is America and the other military you already pay for.
HelloMyNamesInigoMontoya
No, it isn't. Not that I agree with the war mongering, but we could keep military spending the same, and still be able to implement universal Healthcare and actually end up spending less. Military spending is out of control, for sure. But to say that's the reason we can't hand a single payer Healthcare system is not only misinformed, but does a disservice by keeping people from understanding the real reasons we get screwed. You wanna oppose U.S. war efforts, go ahead. But be informed.
Idkillpickanamelater
The US can afford both universal Healthcare and an inflated military to invade whatever country they want
Tumescentpie
I guarantee someone in Trump's orbit has floated dropping an actual nuke and then claiming that it was Iran's nuclear weapon that went off during a chain reaction (even though that isn't how nukes work).
DavidCisme
Obviously no-one in power in the US learned from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is not a smart move attacking countries that have been fighting with their neighbours or other religions for centuries, they are liable to join forces and attack you back.
ROFLtheWAFL
The missteps made in Iraq were: 1. Invading in the first place. But once they committed, they 2. kicked out every Iraqi who had experience running a government because they were all Ba'athists, not processing that the only way to be in those positions and get that experience was to be a party member. They also didn't have a plan to actually administer the country themselves, because nepotism.
Notably, the Western Allies avoided this mistake with Nazi Germany after WW2.
barkappara
If you read the Axios article, "do it with humans" is Israel talking about its *own* troops. "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ambassador to Washington Yechiel Leiter hinted in recent interviews that the Israel Defense Forces have options beyond just airstrikes. One could be a risky commando raid. Israeli special forces conducted such an operation last September, albeit on a smaller scale, when they destroyed an underground missile factory in Syria by planting and detonating explosives."
TheChunguskaEvent
i'm sure it's fine, Iran only has 2x the population and 4x the area of Iraq, how hard could it be? hold on i'm getting some brand new information here

The one where they wiped the floor with their conventional forces within about a month and then completely bungled the ensuing occupation?
Mazzy94
And is mountainous, and less divided than Iraq, and bristling with SAMs, and reasonably technically advanced, and beat Iraq (which had US support).
Not to mention the fact that Yemen's government (Houthis) ran the US air force and navy off already... if one of the poorest nations in the world can do it, Iran is perfectly caple of killing a lot of invaders.
kingbudo101
actually Irans SAMs network has been dismantled over the past week. Israel been flying 4th gen jets all over the entire country including its capital in the middle of the day. They are either at or near air supremacy
InTangier
So they claim. And so they boast. They were bragging about shooting down 2 F-14s lol wow, shot down a retrofitted museum piece. I'm betting they got much more SAMs, even older Soviet ones they can jury-rig, worst case scenario. Hell, Ukraine even managed to strap a few IR air-to-air missiles into trucks and turn them into improvised short-range SAMs lol
LollipopKid
Iran is practically surrounded by mountains, very easy to defend from ground attack.
SunBrolem
Its not like Iran is a natural fortress covered in mountains and rough terrain, right
ElroydIsGone
Yeah, and quite the only country in the middle east with a continuous history of consistent and coherent sense of nation. No way, they will defend their country, even after some invader would seize control of Teheran.

He will do just enough to make things look like they are holding together while at the same time sowing the seeds of monumental failure, which will occur about a month after he leaves office. Then he will blame his successor for that failure (no matter which party they are from)
FunWithUsernames
The failure will be well apparent long before his first term ends.
kiara8942000
Awww, you still think he's leaving office. That's soooo cuuute! Lol
Rongeong
The problem is that there was no actual goal in afghanistan. The military was there for oil, poppy fields, and israel. This time the goal would be to kill a ton of people. That's a lot easier. The target wouldn't be a vague boogeyman, it would be iranian people. All iranian people. You think a russian strike on a Ukrainian city is bad, if the US gives the order we're really gonna see how quickly a city fills with silence. This has the potential to get very very bad.
Awmph
which works out to more than three times the population Iraq had in March, 2003
VaultGirl69
And even supporters of the Iraq war saw what an unnecessary shit show that was. War is just this country's savings account (in multiple ways). Is it expensive? Yes, but we're the ones funding it while they make and sell weapons to the government, growing their personal wealth. America really needs to stop needing a war every decade.
ThomasThundersword
first. i am AGAINST more war in the middle east. However, look, we lost in iraq because we never tried to actually conquer or destroy it. We tried to dick around and make military contractors and oil companies money. if we actually committed to wiping out Iran, we could. very very easily. it would require abject genocide, and a truly *horrific* number of bombs. but we can’t just act like that’s not a thing that could happen. the only thing stopping us is that our gov has been to>
ThomasThundersword
decent (read, not interested in wholesale genocide), and to scared of the political repercussions (domestic and international). to actually commit to a full blown invasion/ conquest, one in which, to quote Senator Cancun “we make the sand glow.” Now, ask yourself, are any of those reasons not to do it still on the table? and now get very very scared very very fast. because holy shit will it be ***bad***.
TheWombatStrikesAgain
For them not trying to destroy it, it got destroyed pretty good. From a relatively stable, if authoritarian, regional power, to a fractured and practically segregated unstable nation. With Iran holding massive influence in shia-dominated areas, and Kurdistan just waiting for a chance to jump out.
kingbudo101
I think you are thinking about Afghanistan. The US absolutely won the war in Iraq, did a regime change, and agreed to a deal in 2008 with the new government to withdraw all US troops by 2011. Which did happen. Afghanistan is the one that fell back to the taliban after the US left
JetrelPixelArt
Yeah, I'm with you in the frustration of people misunderstanding this. When Bush flew the "Mission Accomplished flag", it marked the total defeat of Saddam's regime and army.
Only AFTER THAT did we struggle to police a country we'd conquered, and we basically forced our military, and then contractors like blackwater, to act as a police force on an unruly population. 95% of our casualties came from civilian insurgents shooting at our military-acting-as-cops.
Fengor
How *is* Iraq doing these days? I don't hear the news talk about it at all.
ElroydIsGone
Last thing I heard was quite a mess hoovering near being a failed state. In the chaos after Saddam's fall it was a great breeding ground to bring islamist extremsim together with military expertise of disgrunteld former officers that had collectively been fired. IIRC, this was one of the strongest factors that plunged neighbouring Syria into its civil war.
InTangier
Not particularly great. Turns out that regime change really doesn't work that easily, even after the US tried it what, ten? Twenty times? I lost count.
The dumb part of Iraq is how Saddam actually wanted to be buddies with the US, despite him fucking up the Kurds. They both disliked Iran, but Israel never was a fan of making nice with him. No idea why, with all the war crimes and random invasions, one would expect the the US, Israel and Iraq to be natural friends.
InfocalypseRising
It'll be great, remember how we spent 20 goddamn years in Afghanistan and everything worked out and the Taliban was gone forever?
