I don’t know if you guys have been following this or not, but Nigel Farage (basically British trump) is being investigated for some shady money stuff. So as kind of a PR stunt, he said that he’s going to give up his seat in parliament and then run for his same seat again - to let the people decide (because unfortunately he is popular). But the other major parties said that they weren’t going to play along and put up anybody to run against him. So now the only person that IS running against him is a guy who wears a trash can on his head as part of a satirical character called Count Binface.

And the best part is that because everybody’s so fed up with basically every incumbent politician, and since nobody else is going to run for his seat, which would split the vote - people are thinking that Count Binface could actually win.

This is probably my favorite story going on right now.

Edit: forgot to include a link. My b.

Wait for Farage to resign, then change rules to prevent corrupt scumbags being elected. End of problem. Super simple stuff.

If farage wins, the parliamentary process means the investigation into his donations continues and would likely lead to another by-election. If count binface wins, there would be no need, thus immediately saving the electorate about £350k in election administration costs without lifting a finger.

Clacton has the chance to do the funniest thing in politics since forever.

count binface is a staple of British politics ... he always gives the most rational, intelligent answers in interviews I have ever heard from a "politician"

Fun fact, one of the count's major policies is to nationalize the UK's greatest export: Adele.

If Germany managed to get a satirical party (called "The Party") into the EU parliament, Count Binface could as well take Farage's place.

What I love about Binface is how much his look keeps updating. I think he's getting support from the cosplay community

So that's where Danielle Smith got the idea!

Holy shit, Binface is an amazing costume. Congrats to binface

I would vote for the Count.

There’s the debate about whether what he’s wearing would count as armour which wouldn’t be allowed to be worn in parliament, or if it’s environmental protection to keep him safe in the Earths atmosphere which would be

It's a power inhibitor, for our protection, not his.

He'd be instructed by the Speaker to dress "respectfully and appropriately", and ordered not to conceal his face and identity. A vote for him is a vote for the professional comedy writer Jonathan David Harvey. Comedians have good records as elected officials, I surmise it's because successful comedy has to understand reality to make successful jokes, and involve empathy.

the Speaker can piss off if he's not going to speak respectfully to Count Binface

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I need to see him show up in full costume, draped in a suit and wearing a monocle.

And, I read that farage moved his campaign staff to work on another election. Because he’s about to pull out to not have to risk losing to Binface perhaps?

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In that case I assume all the regular candidates step in and they have a normal by-election. Which is a pity because then pretty definitely we get no Count Binface, MP. I'd like to think Farage would do the honourable thing and stand, but Farage doing the honourable thing would be a novel occurrence in its own right.

I want Farage's ego to prevent him from withdrawing. Fall on your sword, you fetid piece of shit!

These are both great 👍.

If elected, I could see Count Binface taking the job seriously. Not taking himself seriously, of course, just the job ;)

I'm rooting for Binface over Farasshole :D

I'm rooting for him as a message to the billionaires that buying politicians is a waste of their money. It's generally not but I'm hoping this is a step in that direction.

Why Count Binface and not Trashman? Was it a copyright issue?

#fucknigelfarage

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The copyright agreement was with Lord Buckethead, but yes.

Thank you! I’m still learning about this. It’s a fun story either way, but god I hope he wins. It would be hilarious.

3 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I was hoping he'd have a real platform to make Farage actually answer some questions.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I so hope this will happen. Claxton, you know the drill.

One of these has a trustworthy face, probably because he polishes it regularly.

#6 is that Forrest Gump back there?

It's AMAZING how many high-profile situations he keeps getting into.

He needs a 100% straight-faced assistant with him at all times with a clipboard. Like he can say something entirely outrageous and they can take a little note.

I dig it.

I would vote for Count Binface if I lived in that district, however, my suspicion is that all of my neighbors are fucking Nazis since Farage won last time... and I would make it my life's work to get the fuck out of there.

Someone did the math on the last election and if all other votes for other candidates went to Binface he would have won the election by 3000 votes

So with no other major parties fielding candidates Binface does have a chance small chance of winning if he can sway everyone who voted against Reform last time.

2 weeks ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

For what it's worth, the latest polling shows Binface with a plurality of support.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The way I see it, this ends one of two ways:
Binface wins, proving that Brits would take a literal joke contender over a joke of a human being.
Farage wins, and he scores no credit because he wasn't up against anyone his followers would think is a real candidate.

Either way, Farage's PR stunt backfires.

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I hope Binface wins, but that math is meaningless - changes in votes could always change outcomes, there's no reason to think people were solely NOT voting for Farage last time and would therefore vote against him now. Comedians like Binface are unpopular with a certain po faced attitude that is fairly common - many people simply won't vote with just those two choices. A comedian is preferable to a vile liar like Farage, but many will probably blanch at the alternative option.

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I said small chance for a reason.

The point is, Frage didn't get anywhere near enough votes for a majority and this move is unlikely to sway people to his cause.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

P.S: Binface has beaten Piers Morgan and UKIP (the prior incarnation of Farage's lot) in elections before.

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I hope he beats that racist piece of shit... TBH, I would love to see Farage flee the country... but my fear is he would just come here (the US) and become Director of Indian Affairs and then take away their reservation lands.

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I work in Canadian Politics and would suggest that anyone able to volunteer should do so, the best way to win is with "grass roots" Polling but unifying on hating Racists would have avoided BREXIT.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Farage has already broken a promise to leave when things didn't go his way (because then he wouldn't get paid to screw with the UK).

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Let me guess, he probably said "you'll never see me again"?

These people need better writers; the script's getting stale.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't recall the details, but it was something along those lines, a typical "If you don't choose me, I'll leave the country" assertion over some vote.
