Sitting here going insane over things I can't change, knowing that forward will hurt but hopefully less than staying still... I didn't know I needed this today...
I needed this. I've been thinking about walking away from some people that I know I can't help. Me sticking around them would end up driving me back to some old ways that will only end badly for me. It hurts, but I think it's time.
I just...find using the line from the Shawshank Warden when he intentionally murdered a man who could have freed Andy is somewhat...counter to the message.
Jesus christ. Having The Warden from The Shawshank Redemption tell you to move on. The context in that bit is that he had just unlawfully executed Andy's student who also had exonerating testimony that could get Andy released and was forcing Andy back to laundering his embezzled money. Some things you don't just move on and put behind you. In fact, it was that incident that finally pushed Andy to escape. I get the post's point but damn that context is important.
Meh I disagree friend. This is a well executed sum of the parts, which makes it something different from it's deconstructed parts. If anything I want no other context here.
I mean, would you feel the same if he had Hitler shouting "reach for your dreams" or Ted Bundy telling you "Don't let society hold you back from what makes you happy" or Bill Cosby saying "you can't change the past, just move on." If so, kudos to you I guess. The character is an objectively evil person who is blackmailing someone using those words. I won't downvote you, but I vehemently disagree that context doesn't matter.
I see your point, but if one doesn't know who these people are, the piece stands by itself. An important distinction is that these are all actors performing a charater's dialog, not real people.
Did you know that on the DVD and Blu-ray of dodgeball every time that white snaps, there's an Easter egg. You press enter on your remote and it takes you to a bonus feature.
They didn’t say it was wrong. Consider that to a non-white male person, it would be a striking thing to see a bunch of white dudes giving advice and a sprinkle of watanabe.
I just went through this. for nearly a decade. in a crescendo of tears and screaming into pillows, I finally learned how to forgive myself for all the mistakes I've made, and turned my regrets into goals and motivation. it was the singularly hardest thing to do, forgive myself. but it was the last step before I could start healing. the worst was turning 40 only to realize I didn't want kids because of who I was with. and now I want them and am alone. There's still time.
Brothers, divorce is HARD. Keep this to mind: it may take time, but it will get better. And remember: stay to the high road, especially if you have kids.
As someone who is going through a very ugly divorce myself, hang in there. It does get better. If you (or anyone) ever needs someone to reach out to, my DMs are always open.

you know, I come back to this one every once in a while. I came back to it today.

Moving on doesn't mean forgetting or necessarily even forgiving. It means you don't let what happened in the past keep you from living in the present.

It's factually not true, and if it was, so what? What's so wrong if only whine men was in this 50 second clip?

Lots of time. My first husband's father was 55 when he was born. They had a great family.

Unless adopting, not necessarily. I don't presume that they're male. But regardless, best of luck to them.
