Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field. Game is suspended, he was given CPR. Hope he is ok

It’s prudent to inform everyone that paramedics got his heart beating again on the field and that he’s in critical condition

Game was suspended because players wouldn't play, not cause NFL cares about them

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Absolutely horrifying moment in sports history. Medical staff's quick response might have saved a life. Hope he pulls through and makes a full recovery.

He went into Cardiac Arrest after a hit he made. He is not breathing on his own. He is in critical condition. #buffalo_bills #billsmafia❤️??

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Team put out a statement saying that he suffered cardiac arrest. Is still in critical condition.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Glad they postponed the game. I've never seen NFL players look so shook before. They definitely were in no emotional state to keep playing

3 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

Agreed. I think, probably seeing the CPR is traumatic as that's not a normal part of most injury protocol. Wishing the best for everyone

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Definitely. They see broken bones and torn muscles almost daily, but CPR on an unresponsive player is incredibly frightening.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I sure hope he recovers and will be OK.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Same

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How is the sport still legal? I mean besides money

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every year it gets toned down more and more. I can see it phasing out. Good news though, Hamlin is awake now and still recovering

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is some scary shit.

3 years ago | Likes 153 Dislikes 2

Seriously, so sad, I hope he is ok

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Maybe colliding as hard as you can 50 times a game isn't healthy. Maybe we shouldn't be cheering.

Bills fan here. Glad they canceled the game. Prayers.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Must be tough for the team and the fans. The whole league actually, it's pretty traumatizing. Prayers

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Currently in medically induced coma to let his heart rest and heal.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I kinda doubt he'll recover. I think he died right there on the field.

CBS is reporting he suffered cardiac arrest.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who tf down voted this?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was nuts how long it took them to finally call the game. You could tell there was no way those guys were gonna be able to take the 1/

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Pretty sure that the NFL didn't want to take anything away from Hamin. Waiting until he was off the field was a solid move on their part.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

field again, nor should they have. It would have been dangerous for them to try to keep playing while obviously unable to focus. I hope 2/

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

it was just the league figuring it details before announcing but it felt like everybody was left out to dry for way too long. Hope he's ok.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They took that long to make sure the ambulance got to the hospital first. That way fans who left early would not impede the ambulance.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have sympathy for him .... soldiers die every day defending our country, not their multi million dollar paycheck. It's the job be chose.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 19

1. Death can be tragic regardless of occupation. 2. Last time I checked, soldiers, sailors, and airmen also chose their job.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Got a point, many volunteer. Guess I was reflecting on my experience with the Viet Nam draft, and the way soldiers are treated upon return.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Big props to the Bengals team and fans for how they've handled this entire situation

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I’m still shook over this. That was terrifying and I hope we get a good update soon.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same. Been thinking about it all day

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This 'sport' is scary dangerous.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

He went into Cardiac Arrest and is still in Critical condition......His life is in the Lords Hands now.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 43

By that logic, wouldn't the lord have put him on this position to begin with?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Doctors* You can at least give them the minimum amount of respect deserved by saying he works through them or something.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Man. Hope he’s ok. Hate that some people gonna say it’s covid vaccine heart related issues???

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 26

So far I haven't read anyone even speculating that was the cause. Most likely it's commotio cordis but there's been no official word.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Don't go to YouTube right now

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Or Shitter err Twitter.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Go to YouTube or news sites that allow comments. They are there.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Oh, my sweet summer child. That means you're staying on the mostly sane side of the internet. Believe me, those comments are there.

As others have said lot of places are saying it. Big example is people of twotter

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Hoping he is okay and will recover, I've never seen anything like this in sports ever. So scary.

3 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 4

I have. Old high school friend of mine just sat down and died after Dragon Boat practice. Sometimes you push your body too far.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man that sucks, I'm so sorry.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very reminiscent of Christian Eriksen collapsing during Denmark v. Finland Euros match in 2021. FIFA stupidly resumed the match hours later.

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Malarchuk on the Sabres getting his jugular severed and carotid partially cut slashed by a skate in hockey was bad. He was down 1-1/2 qts.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've seen clips of that, just absolutely horrible. Amazing he survived honestly.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember one soccer player being booked, then he turned around shaking his head in disagreement and then simply collapesed on the field.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Even the players of the opposing team were in tears because it was clear that this player was dead (can't find his name right now, sorry)

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Miklos Feher 2004. Distressing scenes :'(

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed, hope he recovers. I’ve also never seen such a thing in sports

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yes, treatment of players and consideration of them in resuming has been discussed extensively tonight on air. Hope they discuss it more 1/

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

in the days and weeks to come 2/2

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There was a baseball player who took a line drive to the chest. Stopped his heart.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Happened quite couple of times in football

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The only other time I have seen anything scary like this, is when the Buffalo Sabres' goalie, Clint Malarchuk was cut by a skate blade...

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Yes, nasty.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That was horrifying

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They put him in a coma, last I heard.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Coma or sedated?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

sedated, i just heard

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thx for the update

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Sedated, not an induced coma, which is good as it means he brain is probably OK. (Induced coma is done to reduce brain activity)

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I hope they don’t resume the game tonight.

3 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 6

The game won't be played this week. That's what Washington Post is reporting.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Thanks for updating.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don’t think they will. Can’t imagine the players wanting to go back. I think the Commission is taking a while, maybe they want to be sure

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

But the NFL wants it rescheduled ASAP.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

They’ve officially suspended the game for the night.

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

I can't believe they took an hour to do it. They should have called it when they were doing cpr. NFL needs to do better

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Thx for the update

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

He’s still in critical condition

$33 for number 3. When he wakes up, I hope he sees how much people care.

Thx for the info

Billion dollar company doesn't cover their players?

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

Sorry, I thought that was for medical bills, not his charity.

The go fund me is for a toy drive he started while in college

100% of people downvoting my comment above also think that wrestling is real.

You mean the gladiatorial slaves on display to sell and drive the capitalist consumerism agenda?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 19

I'd love to meet the people down voting me, show yourselves. It's a fucking business structure thar destroys people and communities to sell

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Yes, those. Specifically those with the increasing brain damage.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 10

What happened to this player is tragic, but bigger problem https://www.cnn.com/2017/07/25/health/cte-nfl-players-brains-study/index.html

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Repeated impacts causing brain damage.... to the surprise of no one. Which is why my son is not allowed to choose football as his sport.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

That is a smart decision!
