My little kitten parade

Babies

These are the seven kittens that my boyfriend and I have been taking care of for the past week and a half. They are currently 5 weeks old (6 weeks this coming Sunday), so they are still very much babies. When they are 8 weeks we are going to start looking for new homes for all of them. This is a picture of them the day they came to us in their little box, all snuggled up and warm. It's hard to tell from just these pictures, but they have grown like weeds this past week and a half. We haven't given them official names yet because we're trying not to get too attached. Note: Their faces are kind of gunky in these pictures because of their URIs, but I promise that I do clean them. The leakage from their eyes and nose just collects on them so fast that it's hard for me to keep up. Also ignore the grossness of our garage/kitten play area. I took these pictures before I cleaned up and made the kitten room bigger.

Sneezy

One of our four little girls, Sneezy. She looks almost exactly like her little sister Runt, except for the fact that she's almost twice her size and the white on her face extends farther underneath her eyes. She is your typical cat; she wants attention only when she wants it and the rest of the time she does her own thing.

Runt

This is our tiny little girl, who is only half the size of her siblings and only just started to eat solid food. (The rest of them have been eating solid for almost a week now.) She tries to keep up with her siblings when it comes to playtime, but since she is so small they tend to just run her over. Runt is the loudest of the group when it's time to eat, though. There is no ignoring this little cutie when she's hungry. (I apologize for my hand in the picture, but it just so happens that of the five pictures I snapped of her this is the only one where she wasn't a blur of movement.)

Gunky

This little girl is named Gunky because her face tends to be the grossest out of the whole litter. She's the second biggest after her brother, Squealer, and is also the most playful of the group. The fact that I managed to get a picture of her laying down amazes me, because normally she's a never ending ball of energy.

Blackie (with Gunky in the background)

This is my boyfriends favorite because she's so dang fluffy and cute. Blackie, despite being very small, is undeniably the "alpha kitten" of the litter. She growls very loudly when it comes to toys, and is quite possessive of her food. All the other kittens know to stay out of her way when she gets into one of her moods, and will wait patiently until she is done to play/eat. Aside from that she is an otherwise gentle little doll. She keeps herself cleaner than the other kittens, and loves to cuddle with the closest warm body when her belly is full. (I should say that despite her possessive growling, Blackie does not ever actually scratch or bite us or any of the other kittens during playtime/feedings. Growling is as far as she goes, and it is simply her way of saying that she won't be pushed around by the bigger kittens in the litter.)

Tabby

Our loudest, most spoiled little boy. Tabby is almost as loud as Runt when he wants attention, and will not shut up until you give it to him. Nine times out of ten he just wants you to hold him when he cries, which our friends and roommates always do. Now he knows that if he meows long enough someone will pick him up and lavish him with affection. We're all pretty sure that Tabby is going to be a very spoiled lap-cat when he gets older. He really is a sweet boy, though, and has a very pretty coat.

Gimpy

Oh, Gimpy, my poor little baby. Gimpy was my favorite when we first got the kittens because of his funny walk and half of a tail. We think that his leg was dislocated, and were advised to just leave it be until he managed to pop it back into place. He seems to have fixed the problem, but he still waddles a bit when he walks. As for his tail, we have no idea why half of it is missing. The vet said that it looked as if it was pinched off by something heavy. Whatever it was it doesn't seem to bother him, and when he wiggles his stump it's absolutely adorable. Gimpy is a very sweet boy who loves to cuddle, which is rather unfortunate for my clothes as he hasn't quite figured out his claws yet. He's always getting them caught on me when he climbs into my lap which means a lot of threads getting pulled loose. Oh well, it's totally worth it if it means I get some kitten snuggles.

Squealer

The big brother of the litter and my current favorite, Squealer is an absolute baby. He's massive compared to his littermates, but he doesn't use his size to push the other kittens around. Actually, he seems to be very careful when playing with them, especially his smaller sisters. I think he knows that he's bigger and stronger than everyone else, so he plays nice to make sure that he doesn't accidentally hurt his siblings. His favorite thing in the world is to climb up my shirt and fall asleep on my chest, which is so adorable that I usually ruin it by picking him up and petting him. He doesn't mind much, though. Squealer lives for attention and is going to be an absolute cuddlebug for whoever takes him home.

BONUS: My Three Black Kittens

This is Toothless, the first cat my boyfriend and I adopted. He thinks he's a dog and loves to play fetch. He also hates to be held against his will and only cuddles when he thinks you're sleeping. He is currently 1 year and 5 months.

Cloudjumper, the second cat we adopted and the youngest of our three. He was very sick when we first got him. I mean REALLY sick, as in he almost died. Now that he's older he's nothing but a lazy jerk who steals toys from Toothless and hides them under the fridge. Gotta love 'im. Cloud is 1 year and 4 months old.

Princess was the last baby we got and the oldest. Her papers said that she was taken home a few months before we got her, but was returned almost immediately because she got sick. It took her several months just to warm up to us enough to let us touch her, and she still hid when we had company. Now she's regained her confidence and anyone can pet her, as long as they don't move too fast. She is 1 year and 7 months old.

I will! I hate to rehome them but I am not that much of a crazy cat lady. 10 cats is too much!

Agreed. I had 8 for awhile, two of mine plus a litter of 6. I loved it, but there was no way I could've kept them. Good on ya

I honestly wish that I could keep either Squealer or Runt but my boyfriend has made it very clear that they all must go.

Like I said above, all of the kittens from the litter of seven will be up for adoption in two weeks to loving families in the Orlando area.

They will not be fixed, but they will have their first vaccine (6 week combination vaccine) and should be over their URIs by then.

how'd you end up with them OP? kudos to you for taking them in :)

A friend brought them to us after she found them outside her apartment. She waited a few hours to see if the mother was coming back but 1/2

When we took them to the vet she said that because the litter was so big and they were all sick the mother may have just given up on them.

she never did, and the kittens were getting cold and hungry so she made a judgement call and swiped them up. 2/2
