My speciality pharmacy updated their amazing customer service to AI. When I called to refill my prescription I asked it to add a sharps container, something I can do with the human rep. It confirmed it was added. My medication came in and there was no sharps container. Like it said it to appease me, but had no ability to add items.

Fuck whoever wrote that headline that _directly_ contradicts the article, as if it wasn't bad enough. The plan as stated is to use "AI" to triage 911 calls, primarily to deal with masses of calls about the same incident flooding the system, and direct them to human dispatchers. (Fuck "AI", and I expect people will die because of this, but still, fuck sensationalist lies as well.)

Okay, so it's not completely replacing them, but it is gatekeeping access. So when the shitty AI hallucinates and gets people killed by denying access to what it deems as the same emergency I'm sure we'll find a way to defend it then too.

Using AI for ANY part of the 911 system should be considered a crime against humanity and result in astronomically large fines for whoever made the decision to implement it as well an incredibly lengthy mandatory prison sentence for everyone involved in that.
AI is so wonky and unreliable that it CANNOT be entrusted with anything to do with the 911 system as it will VERY easily result in innocent people dying. 1/2

I can't even use any services using AI for their phone tree because it's so broken. So how the fuck is a system like that going to be able to correctly handle calls about life and death emergencies? The answer is: it can't. So any attempt to use it in the 911 system is a blatant attack on the well being and safety of the public just to fatten the wallets of corrupt officials. 2/2

A bouncer at Molly’s on Toulouse I used to hang with tried to talk me into joining the force with him. I almost considered it.
Probably the most corrupt force in the country, or at least was at the time, thirty odd years ago.
One kid I knew, keyboard player, got arrested once. They beat the shit out of him, broke his hands, like a lot, and “lost” him in OPP for two weeks. This was someone with people and lawyers actively looking for him.
I’m glad that bouncer gave up the idea.
