greentext

Of course, what we need now is the ultimate cross over... "I was saved by a group of furry Dogtanian cosplayers!"

It's a fun story, but it's a 4chan green text, which means it's 1000% bullshit.

I need a raptor costume

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does one re-enact all of Sweden

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very carefully.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I though that was the begging for a reboot of Three Musketeers

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've read the story, it's been reposted dozens of times, but hadn't seen the follow-up before. that's just great

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of the story where a woman was being attacked in a parking lot and was saved by huge Drag Queens. The adults who play dress up are usually the best adults.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Cannot read that

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not all heroes wear capes..... But I bet this guy does!

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

No joke, a mug of hot mulled wine on a cold/frigid Scandinavian day/night is an amazing experience. Just hold it in both hands, inhaling the heat and aroma. It's almost magical.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If this story is true (I'm always skeptical of things I reading the internet, especially 4chan), this man (and his friends) deserve, at the very least, a statue erected in his/their honor.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which half?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He’s not the hero we deserve, but he is the hero we need

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love "Swedish re-enactors". Like, the country was gone long ago, and now nerds just gather at fairs to eat meatballs & pickled herring (historically accurate), challenge ruffians to rapier duels (debatable but fun), and drunkenly perform any of the 7 sacred eurovision-winning ballads of the lost great ones (the ancient traditions). The current fandom drama is whether ABBA re-enactors should canonically wear swords.

#3 reminds me of this incident from a few years ago

the man with one eye is an actual godamn hero, making the world a better place via chivalry

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something very similar to this happened to a friend of mine when we were in college and he was abroad. Which from the date of the post it may have even been the same guy. Except they brought my friend in and he thought it was all a weird dream until he woke up the next morning to find one of the lads sitting in full kit with a spear next to him 😅 Apparently one of them chased off the attempted mugger while shouting "You raped her, you murdered her you killed her children" 😅

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Be as weird as you want, as long as you're a good person.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#2 thanks. I love him

2 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

I I’m just a little disappointed that he didn’t fend off her would-be rapist with a rapier…

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"You may be rape-y but this sword is rapier!"

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

you made my day !

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If anyone's curious this tale gets better. It turns out that they did this so many times that they were known to the cops. I think they even ended up in court, but nothing ever happened because they were always saving people.

Swedish reenactors = 99% karoliner, landsknecht or viking basically. 0.5% pirates.

Same!

I used to hang out with some people who were in the local SCA. Had a friend who caught someone trying to break into his car at night. So he did what any reasonable person would do: grabbed his claymore off his bedroom wall and ran out for a little chat, which ended up with him chasing some dumb asshole down the street with a sword. While naked. And I don't care how big and bad you think you are, you aren't mentally prepared to be chased down the road by an angry naked man with a big sword.

2 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

Guess it depends on which big sword they're ready to do business with.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

with a 6' sword like a claymore, that fight is going to last exactly one stroke

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

First I thought he grabbed a fucking landmine. Or whatever that thing that goes boom is technically. Mine?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You're thinking of this thing. It's not like a landmine, it won't go off without the ignitor. (see image, the ignitor is in the bottom left) These are less horrible than landmines, because they aren't just buried in the dirt for toddlers to step on, they have to be set off. This charming device is full of explosives (C4 I think) and ball bearings that it will spray in a cone pattern when triggered.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that’s it. I know what it looks like & how it works, just don’t know what it’s classified as. Still a mine, I suppose? Nasty fuckers.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They were referred to as "claymore mines" the last time I had to deal with one. Louder than I expected.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! I was kind of thinking they might be. Sorry(?) you had to deal with one. I can imagine them being loud!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A friend had a two-handed axe. To avoid commotion in public he hid it under his jacket; holding it awkwardly with both hands so it doesn't fall down. This was enough to get two idiots to accost him. He unzipped the jacked, wielded the axe and gave a battle cry.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

His then-girlfriend now-wife (been >20 years since I last heard from them, though) destroying a winmodem held in my hands:

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I honestly wonder if SYG laws apply to swords, Like do you have the same right to stab a motherfucker as you do to mag dump them with a 9mm.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Probably not if they are running down the street to get away. But that same rule applies for the 9mm. But if they are in your house, I doubt the type of weapon used matters much.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Utah about 15 years ago, when taking a concealed carry class the instructor told me (as I was in the SCA then) that a sword is considered a weapon of ambush, as is a crossbow, if you use it to defend yourself or your home. How a handgun isn't considered the same, the instructor couldn't say. Also in Utah then, if you had a sword in a scabbard it was considered a concealed weapon and a naked blade was considered brandishing. I don't know if that has changed.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

A gun couldent be an ambush weapon by any metric/s

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@.@ an effin claymore! awesome

I'm pretty sure I saw this scene in V For Vendetta...

But seriously, look for the helpers. And take note of how the helpers are threatened...

#3 so there is an entire apartment complex full of half naked furries somewhere?

It's probably a coincidence, but Brock "I'm a rapist" Turner's victim was rescued by two Swedish students passing by on bicycles. They didn't have swords, but they did the right thing at the right time and that made a huge difference.

2 years ago | Likes 669 Dislikes 3

I do believe Swedish Internet-dwellers have found their place: heroes.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wherever you go, in your time of need, may the universe bless you, with a self-righteous Swede.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He goes by Allen Turner now.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I think you mean Allen "actually Brock the chickenshit rapist" Turner.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Are you talking about Aaron Persky's friend Brock "The Rapist" Turner, son of Dan "Father of Brock "The Rapist" Turner" Turner?

2 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 1

Oh, right. The rapist. The rapist named Brock, the rapist specifically identified as Brock Turner, Brock Turner the rapist.

That rapist?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes, Brock "20 Minutes of Action" Turner.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I am trying to draft a law right now requiring swedes to carry rapiers on public

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Wait are you talking about Brock Turner, the rapist? This guy??

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait. Do you mean brock turner, the rapist?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hmm. Think maybe the swords were just left out of the police report?

2 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

In all seriousness, the victim said in her darkest times she stuck a picture of bicycles up in her room to remind her that there are good people who do good things in the world. Can't fight every battle with a sword.

2 years ago | Likes 218 Dislikes 0

In Germany we say „Alter Schwede!“ (Old Swede) when we want to say „Woooow“ and express that we are impressed either in a good or bad way. Confidence?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This could be dangerous, they're in NATO now so that means: 'All for one, and one for all'

2 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

or maybe that's why we want them in NATO, they won't let us down.

You wouldn't understand a word, Swedish or not. I was raised in an extremely rural area, one could say.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You don't have a summer festival where you bedeck a maiden in entirely too many flowers when she's named the May Queen, do you?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't tell them because they hate to brag, but Swedish people tend to be much nicer and more decent than all the other nationalities i have encountered, something like a * live and let live * mentality that leads to a * don't be a dick *.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Swedes have always had that "dont poke the sleeping bear" energy imo. Them and the Fins. Love me some Finnish snipers.

Swedish cops on holiday in New York broke up a fight. https://nypost.com/2015/04/22/swedish-cops-on-vacation-break-up-subway-fight/

I was in Malmo once. The cops seemed very chill, but also very ready to fuck shit up if the need arose.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Cops are generally chill in Sweden. There are always exceptions, of course, but most are good eggs.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I hear you require police to have actual education and training on how to defuse situations. Here they teach cops how to intimidate suspects and shoot at acorns.
