Something I learned from the least anticipated class in my Broadcasting coursework in college: Advertising. Good advertising IS art. It's entertaining, thought-provoking, challenging. After I got out in the real world working in TV, I used that attitude to at least strive for that high level of creativity. This ad achieved it. Kudos!
Using American psycho to push a disposable razor is a commerce that I'll watch at least twice. I can't say that I feel convinced to buy that brand at all but I would like to see more of their videos.
I wonder if actually it's just people these days are so exposed to advertising that even their short films play like ads. When I told my cousin her insta video of her pizza box blowing in the wind looked like an ad she took it as a compliment. It wasn't.
I didn't pick up on the ad part, but I can kind of see it now that you mention it. I thought they were just being goofy. I remember a couple decades ago when TV ads were at least somewhat creative and could be hilarious. They were unhinged too, especially during the Superbowl. Ads nowadays are just so uninspired and annoying. They aren't even of the same vein. I don't personally mind untargeted ads, but only if you're going to at least make it funny/creative/different. I don't mind this ad/vid.
